Discovery Charter School, which opened in fall 2010, is a public elementary and middle-level charter school that uses a place- and project-based approach to connect students to the natural, economic, and cultural resources of their region.

Discovery staff officially welcomed students back yesterday after a weather event hit last week on the first staff day!
Our community is still recovering, but we hope the return to school brought a sense of peace, excitement and normalcy to our families. 💙💙🤍🤍

It is important to us that we begin the school year strong, together, and ready to give our best to our students. We believe these additional days will allow our community time to rebound and return ready for a great start to the year.

Discovery is excited to welcome Heather Steele as a new teacher to the Kindergarten Team! Miss Steele brings a breadth of expertise that fits well with Discovery's vision and positive momentum as we strengthen our Kindergarten program this year.

Miss Steele will be starting her 6th year teaching; she previously spent 4 years teaching 2nd grade and 1 year doing K-2 Special Education in Rensselaer. She offers that she is "excited for an opportunity to work with those kinder babies again! I love teaching and have said since I was a kindergartener myself that I wanted to be a teacher."

She is a graduate of 2021 from Manchester University and licensed to teach K-6 Gen ED and K-12 SPED.

In her free time, she likes to spend time with family and is also a Real Estate agent. She promises that she will not try to convince the 5-year-olds to buy a house.
Some of her favorites include hiking with her family, shopping on Amazon, Chick-fil-a, and Dunkin Donuts.

Miss Steele has already been busy setting up her room for the new year and is looking forward to meeting our Kindergarten students at Kindy Camp next week!

If you have any items to pick up from Camp Invention (held in June), this is a friendly reminder that the last day for pickup is now Thursday, July 9th. 🗓️

Our office will be open:
📍 Wednesday, July 8th: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📍 Thursday, July 9th: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Please be sure to stop by during those hours to collect your belongings. Any items remaining after Thursday will be discarded.
