LAST DAY TO TURN IN PORK CHOP BREAKFAST ORDERS!

Today is the last day to turn in your Roosevelt County 4-H Pork Chop Breakfast tickets and group orders!

The Annual Pork Chop Breakfast will be held **Wednesday, August 19, from 6:00 AM–10:00 AM** at the Jake Lopez Building at the Roosevelt County Fairgrounds.

Breakfast plates are $12 each and include:

* Pork Chop
* Biscuits & Gravy
* Eggs
* Coffee, Orange Juice, and Milk

**Group delivery orders are available for local businesses!**

This is Roosevelt County 4-H’s largest fundraiser of the year, helping support our members as they attend events like Youth Get Away, State 4-H Conference, and other educational and leadership opportunities.

Zucchini, Kitchen Skills & Teamwork!

Hi, it’s Michelle Howard, your Roosevelt County FCS Agent!
We had such a fun time last week working with our Novice/Jr./Sr. kids during our Zucchini Workshop!

There was a whole lot of learning going on in the kitchen, too!
The kids learned how to use a sifter, how to tell the difference between dry and liquid measuring cups, and why using the correct one matters when following a recipe. We also practiced the difference between a tablespoon (Tbsp.) and a teaspoon (tsp.) because we definitely don't want to switch those two! 😂

They practiced reading and following a recipe, measuring ingredients correctly, working safely in the kitchen, taking turns, helping one another, and cleaning up as they worked.

And probably one of my favorite lessons of the day was learning that teamwork really does make the dream work! When everyone has a job and works together, things go a whole lot smoother and it's a lot more fun!

Hands-on activities like this give our kids a chance to learn skills they can take home and use again and again. They aren't just learning how to make zucchini bread or another recipe; they're building confidence and life skills in the kitchen.

A big thank you to our kids for jumping in and giving everything a try and to our Extension Homemakers and volunteers who help make opportunities like this possible.

And judging by the concentration in these pictures, I would say these young cooks were taking their measuring duties pretty seriously!

Roosevelt County 4-H Educational Exhibits & 4-H Open Projects

Roosevelt County Fair is almost here! Please make sure you have your 4-H Educational Exhibits and Open Projects completed and ready to enter.

ENTRY DATES & TIMES

Friday, August 14
8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
1:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.

Saturday, August 15
8:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.

All entries will be taken at the Roosevelt County Extension Office.

Before You Arrive:

Bring your project completed and ready for entry.
Complete any required project record sheets.
After check-in, leave your project at the Extension Office. Extension staff will transport projects to the fairgrounds for judging and display.

IMPORTANT EXCEPTION — Cooking, Baked Goods, Fresh Vegetables & Herbs

Entry forms for these projects must still be completed on Friday, August 14, or Saturday, August 15. However, please DO NOT bring the actual exhibit at that time.

The actual cooking, baked goods, fresh vegetable, and herb exhibits must be brought to the Extension Office by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17 so they are fresh and ready for judging.

REMINDER: Fair Clean-Up Day is TOMORROW!

The Roosevelt County Fair is almost here, and we need everyone’s help getting the fairgrounds ready! All exhibitors are expected to participate. The more helping hands we have, the quicker we can get everything cleaned up and ready for a great fair week.

The Roosevelt County Fair is just around the corner, and it's time to get the fairgrounds ready! Fair Clean-Up Day is one of the most important days leading up to fair, and we are asking all exhibitors to make plans to attend and help.

Preparing the fairgrounds is a team effort, and it takes everyone working together to ensure the grounds are clean, safe, and ready for a successful fair week. As a Roosevelt County exhibitor, participating in Fair Clean-Up Day is an important responsibility and a way to give back to the fair that supports our youth year after year.

Roosevelt County Fair Livestock Exhibitors – Friendly Reminder

Today is the last day someone will be available at the Roosevelt County Fair Office to assist with livestock entries.

All livestock entries are due by 5:00 PM today (August 1). After the deadline, late entries will be accepted with a $50 late fee per head.

If you haven't entered your livestock yet or need help with the process, please stop by the Fair Office before 5:00 PM. We're happy to help!

New Mexico State Fair Livestock Entry Reminder!!!

- The deadline to enter the New Mexico State Fair Junior Livestock Show is Saturday, August 1. All entries must be completed online before the deadline. Don't wait until the last minute to submit your entries!

- Parking permits and exhibitor passes may be purchased through August 1 when completing your online entries.

- Junior & Open Livestock Parking Pass (Gate 6): $40 per family
- Daily Parking Pass (Gate 6): $7 (Dog Show, Wool Lead, Poultry & Rabbit exhibitors)

Summer is flying by, and before we know it, school will be back in session! Before summer comes to an end, join us for one of Roosevelt County 4-H's favorite traditions—the Annual Roosevelt County 4-H Pork Chop Breakfast!

The Pork Chop Breakfast is our largest fundraiser of the year, and every plate purchased directly supports Roosevelt County 4-H members as they attend educational events and leadership opportunities such as Youth Get Away, State 4-H Conference, and many other activities throughout the year.

Join us on Wednesday, August 19, from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Jake Lopez Building at the Roosevelt County Fairgrounds.

Can't make it to the fairgrounds? No problem! We offer group orders with delivery to local businesses, making it easy to treat your employees to a great breakfast while supporting Roosevelt County 4-H.
