Hello to art students who are interested in joining our arts department student organizations! This is a reminder that the first official Art Space meeting and our next Clayhounds meeting will be hosted together and simultaneously in the Art Annex room 109 TONIGHT at 6:00 p.m.!
This is a great way to connect socially with members from the department and beyond! We usually have a few fun activities to do, and this week we will also be further discussing the election of club officers (for both clubs)!
Come ready to meet new friends and chillax a bit before the long weekend! See you there🤙

Visual Arts BFA student Moniquea Aragon has been selected as this year's ENMU College of Fine Arts Honors Breakfast speaker! Here's a Q + A with this graduating Greyhound and future art teacher!

1. What is your hometown/High School? I went to Roswell High School in my hometown of Roswell, NM.

2. What’s your major at ENMU? My major is Fine Arts with an emphasis in visual arts.

3. What’s a favorite class you took at ENMU and why? A favorite class I took at ENMU was Senior Portfolio because it felt like everything finally came together. It’s the class you take at the end where you use what you’ve learned from all your other art classes, but you get a lot more freedom to just make what you want. I liked that it felt more personal, and having super in-depth critiques was one of my favorite parts.

4. Name a fave professor you had at ENMU and why: A favorite professor I had at ENMU was Britta Urness. She gave really direct, useful feedback and wasn’t afraid to be honest, which made a big difference in my work. Her critiques were fun and always engaging, and she always brought a positive energy to class while pushing everyone to make the best work that they could.

5. Tell us about a project you were a part of at ENMU and what it was like: A project I was a part of at ENMU was Art Fest 2025. I worked with Michelle Lemons, the president of the New Mexico Art Education Association, and gained extensive hands-on experience teaching and leading workshops. It was a really good opportunity to get advice while also participating in a fun program.

6. Name a favorite ENMU memory: A favorite memory of mine is working at the Summer by Design summer camp held at ENMU last summer. I got to assist one of my favorite people, Vanessa Miranda, doing a wide variety of lessons, my favorite being the “yarn painting” lesson. They were some of the funniest kids I’ve ever gotten to work with!

7. If you have any post-graduation plans or dreams, what are they? After graduation, I plan to get my teaching license and hopefully go on to teach art. I also hope to have my own ceramics studio one day.

8. Finally, do you have any advice for younger or future greyhounds? Anything that would’ve helped you be successful as you prepared to become a college student? My advice for younger or future Greyhounds would be to not be afraid to reach out for help. I’m never afraid to ask questions or send a quick email if I need assistance.

Graduating Senior Chase Williamson worked on a directed study all semester honing his skill at Japanese brush painting. The results of his repeated exercises and landscapes are hung together in the hallway this week.

Four graduating seniors will exhibit their artwork in the in the from Monday May 4th through Friday May 8th.

Student Artist Talks and Closing Reception will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday May 8th. During the special event, artists will discuss their creative process, concepts, and outcomes, offering a look inside their artistic journey.
