Amberly Elementary School

If you’ve been wondering what we’ve been up to the past two weeks, our amazing Portage Fire Department has been visiting Amberly to teach our students all about fire safety🔥🚒 Students across all grade levels have been learning about fire escape plans, what to do in an emergency, fire trucks, and the tools and equipment firefighters use to keep our community safe.

A HUGE thank you to the Portage MI Dept of Public Safety - Police & Fire for taking the time to visit our school and help our students learn these important, potentially life-saving skills! We are so grateful for our amazing community partners! ❤️

Last week, our second-graders took a trip to the Kalamazoo Nature Center! They learned all about amazing insects, explored the exhibits throughout the center, and even took a hike to Nature’s Way Playground!

We love seeing our students learning, exploring, and making memories outside of the classroom! We can’t wait to see all of the fun this week brings. Who’s ready for Monday?!

Dolly Day at Amberly! 🩷

Today our Amberly staff celebrated Dolly Day by wearing pink and celebrating all things Dolly! 💕 Our wonderful Engagement Specialist, Mrs. Roberts, surprised staff with a “Dolly Carton”, working 9–5 on the speaker and making some yummy deliveries throughout the day! 🎶

Even Jade joined in on the fun and got in the Dolly spirit! 🐾🩷🤠

What a fun day celebrating our staff and bringing a little extra joy to Amberly! 💕✨

🌿🧡 OUR AMBERLY TIGER COMMUNITY IN ACTION!

If you’ve noticed how beautiful the front of Amberly has been looking lately, it’s because our amazing Tiger community came together to help make it beautiful! We are so thankful for the families, staff, and community members who have helped make our school grounds a welcoming place for our students. Thank you to everyone who has helped make it happen!

This Saturday, September 26 at 9:00 AM, the Amberly PTA is hosting a courtyard clean-up to help spruce up some of the outdoor spaces inside Amberly! 🌿✨

We wanted to share this opportunity here on our main Amberly page so that our entire Tiger community is aware and anyone who would like to participate has the information!

🌿 If you’re planning to participate, helpful items to bring, if you have them:
• Gloves

Today, Mrs. Bailey’s first grade class took a moment to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the brave heroes who helped others that day. 🇺🇸

Students learned about the American flag and created their own flag artwork as a way to remember this important day in our history. ❤️💙

We are so proud of our first graders for learning, remembering, and showing respect as we honor the heroes and the lives lost on 9/11.
