After more than a year in the US, Maral from Turkmenistan has started her journey home. She and the rest of the Turkmen students will meet in Washington. They will fly home where they will quarantine together for 14 days before reuniting with their families. After quarantine, Maral will begin online classes with her university in St Petersburg, Russia. She hopes to be in-person at the university soon. Maral is pictured here with her host sister Sophia just before her departure from Milwaukee. Thank you Maral for being a great exchange student! We wish you safe travels and a successful first year of university. Until we meet again . . .

Maral and host sister Sophia spent some of their free time painting beautiful cardinals on the front window of a local resident who recently lost a loved one. They did a wonderful job!

Our OHS AFS students at arrival in 2019 and just before they left in 2020. We miss you Brage, Anna, Blanca, Celie, Dea, Book, Beatriz, Michal and Sonia! And though Maral is still here, we have not seen her since she is staying safe at home in Oconomowoc so we miss her too!

Brage presented information about Norway to the Oconomowoc Kiwanis, including teaching them alphabet and sounds exclusive to the Norwegian language.
Oconomowoc Kiwanis presented a check to Oconomowoc AFS. The Kiwanis’ annual financial support of AFS helps to bring these students to the community and send OHS students abroad. Thank you Oconomowoc Kiwanis!!

Anna did a presentation about Italy for Oconomowoc Kiwanis! Host mom Jessica Kadow attended the meeting with her.
