Portage Public Library

During the month of May, children in 5th grade and younger could participate in the Bookmark Design Challenge 2026. The theme this summer is "Unearth a Story" and participants were asked to make a bookmark that features dinosaurs. There were 2 winners: Orrin S. and Eleanor E. Their drawings were made into bookmarks that you can pick up in the Children's Department. The other entries are on display in the library. Stop in and pickup a bookmark and take a look at all the other wonderful designs!

Our last food drive supported the Portage Food Pantry in such a big way that we're doing it again! Donations of non-perishable food and toiletries can be dropped off at library during the month of June.

Check-Out Contest!
June 1st-July 18th, 2026

This contest is simple, just check out your items.
Then, put your name & phone number on the back of your receipt and put it in the bucket*. (Buckets will be by the self checkout machines.)

Winners of the weekly $10 Gift Card will be drawn on Fridays.
Those receipts with 5 or more items checked out will be put into the Grand Prize Drawing. The Grand Prize is $50 in Portage Green which will be given away on July 20, 2026.

*Staff can print out an additional receipt for you if you'd like to take one home.

Join us at the library on June 20th to watch The Librarians, a documentary about book bans and censorship in public and school libraries across the US. Following the film, there will be a question and answer session and discussion. The film screening was made possible by a grant from Subject Matter.
