Senior Parking Spot Application and Important Information
Painting Senior Parking Spot Application/Rules
2026/2027 School Year
Allowing senior students to paint their own parking spots is a great way to improve school pride
and friendships. We encourage students to express themselves through positive artwork, to
beautify the campus, to build school spirit, to create a tradition and support activities and events.
Athletic Booster Club Fundraiser: Purchasing a Senior Parking Space allows the
purchasing senior students to personalize their space by painting it.
Painting parking spots is a privilege. Non Painted parking spaces will continue to be available
for senior students who do not wish to purchase and decorate a parking spot.
IMPORTANT: To paint a parking spot, students must turn in the attached form and have a valid
driverās license or learnerās permit.
1. Requirements
a. This completed application must be submitted via email to
[email protected] including drawn proposal of parking space designs
(with colors) by July 27, 2026. Once approved, the student will receive additional
information on the next steps. We have limited spaces available and they fill fast. You must be approved and paid before the spot is secured.
b. Only PHS seniors may purchase reserved parking spots. Students will need to pay
$20 CASH ONLY directly to Main Office Melissa Johnson. PLEASE SEE IMPORTANT DATES AND TIMES TO PAY AND SELECT YOUR SPACE BELOW.
c. Students and their parents/guardian(s) will sign a contract to agree to all
guidelines and rules.
d. Students must have cleared any financial obligations debts prior to purchasing a
personal parking spot.
e. Students will place the parking tag from their rearview mirror. This tag will be issued
to you when you purchase your spot.
3. Parking Spot Design Proposal
a. Any questionable designs will be discussed and evaluated.
b. Variation from the approved design proposal will warrant surrender of the
reserved space for the remainder of the school year and forfeiture of the fee
(parking pass and painting fee).
c. A copy of the design proposal will be kept on file with the studentās parking permit
information.
d. Senior parking design request proposal sheet must be done in color and must
represent exactly what will be painted on your parking space to be accepted.
4. The following will be prohibited for the designs:
a. Offensive language, pictures or symbols.
b. Negative or rude language.
c. āgang-styleā tagging
d. Political statements
5. Guidelines for painting
a. The studentās name is the ONLY name/initial that will be allowed to be painted on
the spot. (NO boyfriendās/girlfriendās/siblings/friends)
b. A section of the parking lot will be designated for painting. Once a spot has been
assigned/selected, no spot will be traded or switched among students
c. All designs must be painted within the 6ā border of the designated paint area of
the parking spot
6. Students must use a water-based latex exterior paint.
a. Students MUST purchase their own paint and supplies
i. Home Depot, Lowes, Sherwin Williams, Ace Hardware
ii. Dollar Tree, Target, Hobby Lobby or Walmart for paint supplies
iii. Sharing colors with peers is encouraged
b. Students will not use āStriping Paintā or any other āRaisedā paint or Roofing Tar
c. NO spray paint, glitter or textured paint
d. Students will NOT cover PAINTED PARKING LINES.
7. Painting Days
a. Painting will take place July 27th-Aug 7th during daylight hours.
b. Students must only paint in their spot.
c. All painting must be completed on the designated painting day(s).
d. A trash can will be provided for cleanup in the parking lot.
8. Student Supply List:
a. Copy of approved design to use as a template
b. Approved Paint
c. A broom to sweep off parking spot prior to painting
d. Paint brushes/rollers/sponge.
e. Painters tape/stencils
f. Water bucket for dirty brushes
g. Tray(s) for paint
h. Chalk to sketch out design
9. Students Suggested Items to Bring on Painting Day(s)
a. Towels/Blankets to sit on
b. Lawn Chairs
c. Pop-Up Tents for shade
d. Sunscreen
e. Trash Bags
f. Paper Towels
g. Water to drink
10. Discipline
a. Any Portage High School student who paints a parking spot without
permission or vandalizes a senior parking spot will lose their parking privileges
and face disciplinary action and consequences.
b. The upkeep of the space is the responsibility of the student. If for some reason
the space needs to be repainted (because of graffiti or other reasons), the
student must speak with a school administrator immediately.
c. If a student withdraws/removed from school due to disciplinary actions during the
school year, the reserved parking spot will be painted over with black
water-based latex exterior paint and not resold.
d. If any Portage High School student parks in a senior studentās
assigned parking spot
i. 1st offense, student will receive a warning, student will be asked to move
car immediately
ii. 2nd offense, student will receive a disciplinary consequence and will be
asked to move car immediately
iii. 3rd offense, students will receive a parking citation and parking privileges
will be revoked.
e. Prohibited or unapproved designs will be painted over and they will not receive a
refund
f. If a student arrives at school and finds another vehicle parked in their reserved
painted space, the student needs to:
i. Park in an empty spot.
ii. Report the incident to the Attendance Office immediately.

painted over, and I will not receive a refund.
___ 8. I will only paint my approved design following all these guidelines in my parking space. If
I paint a spot I am not assigned, paint over someone elseās design, or paint during the
non-designated painting days, I WILL LOSE MY PARKING PRIVILEGES.
ANY GRAFFITI, SLANDER, UNAPPROVED PAINTING, VANDALISM OR DESTRUCTION OF
PROPERTY WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DISCIPLINARY ACTION AND THE STRIPPING OF
YOUR SENIOR PRIVILEGES; WITHOUT EXCEPTION.
I recognize, as a member of the Class of 2027, that the painting of senior parking spaces in a
privilege, and understand that Portage High School Administration has the right to
revoke this privilege at their discretion for acts on the part of seniors negatively representing
student body and/or violations of school policy. I assume full responsibility for my actions and
behavior and shall hold neither Portage High School nor the Portage Township School
Board liable for an act or occurrence. I realize that it is my responsibility to adhere to the
regulations regarding this senior privilege.

please be in your assigned seat no later than 9:50am. Guest tickets, honor stoles, & cords will be distributed to students after rehearsal. ONLY GRADS WILL BE ALLOWED TO PICK UP TICKETS. Your school ID is required.
GRADUATION CEREMONY WEDNESDAY JUNE 10 AT 7:00PM ā outside (football field), NO TICKETS REQUIRED FOR OUTSIDE CEREMONY ā gates open at 5:00pm. Students report to east auditorium, Door A opens at 6:00pm You must be in your assigned seat no later than 6:30pm
Weather contingency #1: Thursday June 11 at 7:00pm outside (football field), no ticket required.
Weather contingency #2: Thursday June 11 at 7:00pm INSIDE (main gym), TICKET REQUIRED FOR ALL GUESTS. Each student will be issued FOUR guest tickets. Unfortunately, due to space restrictions in the gym, no additional tickets are available.
