Our staff at The Science Cottage strongly believe in the importance of introducing science at an early age. While working with children for the past 20 years, we have come to realize that children are more than capable of comprehending on a much higher level than adults sometimes realize. Therefore, this program has been designed to allow younger children a chance to experience some of the same ex
periments that are taught at universities worldwide, on a level that they are capable of understanding. We try to incorporate into each lesson the concept that science is not only about producing slime and exploding volcanoes, but that science is all encompassing. It is important that kids learn to recognize that science is everywhere. For example, chemicals are everywhere. They are found in the food that we eat (the chemical Tryptophan found in turkey and bananas-that makes us sleepy), the air that we breathe (oxygen and carbon dioxide), and in the medication that we take. Children are amazing scientists. They are bright, inquisitive and insightful. Their questions often surprise and amaze us! To accommodate the inquisitive needs of our students, The Science Cottage has created a vast library of unique science programs. Our spectacular demonstrations, hands on acticvities, and real world discussions make learning science fun. Our summer science classes let kids become junior scientists and embark on a series of adventures which will expand their perception of the world while having fun.
