SHOWCASE ARTIST KATHLEEN FAULKNER has spent much of her childhood and adult life in the wilderness — and she's devoted to documenting the natural beauty of our world. Come see her art in the Showcase 2026 exhibit at Northwind Art, through Sept. 7! Kathleen, who lives in Anacortes, is among the 12 inspirational artists sharing the space. Northwind Art's gallery at 701 Water St. is open 12-5 PM Thursdays through Mondays, while info and images await 24-seven at https://northwindart.org.

NORTHWIND ART IS HIRING!
Our nonprofit organization seeks a welcoming, organized and arts-focused Exhibit Sales and Installation staffer to support daily operations at Northwind's Jeanette Best Gallery.
This 20- to 25-hours-per-week position provides visitor and customer service, conducts gallery, retail, and online sales, maintains artwork and sales records, supports artists, and assists with exhibition installations, shipping, and gallery events.

SHOWCASE ARTIST RICHARD KOHLER of Sequim is exhibiting his crystalline photography at Northwind Art's Showcase space at 701 Water Street, where gallery hours are 12-5 p.m. Thursdays through Mondays. You can see these works in all of their natural glory through Sept. 7 — browse all of Richard's images at https://northwindart.org under the See and Shop heading.

Richard works in traditional monochrome prints; having developed his art in this medium for many years, he finds that when he makes photographs that are meaningful to him, others appreciate it as well.
“Photography is all about light,” Richard writes. “Each photograph is, in a way, a personal experience. A fine photograph allows the experience to be saved, valued and shared into the future.”

BROOMS: they're art, they're useful and they connect us across cultures. Thank you to the folks who joined the wonderful teaching artist Dan Hawkins at Northwind Art School this past Friday!
"I am swept away," quipped participant Colleen. "Yay for one of the best Northwind classes I have taken."
"This class was fun. It was a creative outlet that I’ve never explored. There was a good sense of camaraderie in the class," added Natasya.

A RARE CHANCE to be fully inspired is coming up this Saturday: Artist George Rodriguez will give a *slide-illustrated* keynote talk at the Northwind Art Gala. Tickets are available till Wednesday only at Northwindart.org (link in bio), so don't wait!

The Gala is a picnic in the park this year, under a big tent at Fort Worden from 2:30-5 p.m. Among the delights:
- Delicious food from Mo-Chilli BBQ and beverages from Castle & Crown Cellars, Rainy Daze Brewing, Finnriver Cidery, Bar Car and more
- Giant butterflies, painted by local artists, adorn the tent
- The Ants Misbehavin' band will play swing, jazz and samba
- A sneak peek inside Northwind Art's new Ceramics Studio
- Bid on dazzling desserts baked by local chefs
- Check out the auction items including a portrait sitting with painter Tracy Grisman and an interlude at the Seaside Sauna and Retreat
- Emcee Paul Rogers will keep us laughing!

All of this benefits Northwind Art's year-round programs, including scholarships to art classes and camps, the art school at Fort Worden and beautiful shows at the downtown gallery.

AT THE GALLERY: "Migration," an exhibit all about movement and resilience among wildlife and humans. The four artists featured include Mary O'Shaughnessy, who cast her feet out of salt as a reflection on her Celtic heritage.
