Good morning fabulous 5th grade families!

I wanted you to be aware of two math assessments coming up soon.

FAST - 9/14

Our first FAST assessment of the year will provide a baseline score for your child based on their current 5th grade knowledge. At this point, we know that they have received very little instruction on this level. As a result, these results are used as nothing more than a jumping off point to be compared to later in the year. There is no pass or fail; this is simply a "show what you know" assessment.

This assessment is computer based and students will have a minimum of 90 minutes to complete roughly 40 questions.

I Ready Diagnostic -9/26 and 9/27

Students will take a diagnostic test within our I Ready program to determine what math level they are working on. I will use these results to help drive my instruction in my classroom so I can ensure I am providing lessons to your child based on their strengths and/or weaknesses. The final score will also determine what level lessons this program provides your child. This program is wonderful at building missing foundations as well as providing enrichment if no foundations are missing.

I will provide you the results of both assessments during the first week of October.
