Last week, we welcomed Mr. Omar Ferreira from the Inner Truth Project to engage our students in a discussion on the theme, 'Who Am I?'

We are thrilled about our partnership with Prevention Central, an organization that equips parents and students with the tools to navigate life’s challenges. Together, we’ll create a lasting impact on the lives of youth and families in our community!

We are excited about this partnership with Project R.O.C.K. South Inc. in Treasure Coast.

Project R.O.C.K South Inc. provides a structured, supervised, nurturing environment for youths K-12 suspended from St. Lucie School District, taking them off the streets and into a positive learning environment.

This morning Fort Pierce Sunrise Kiwanis Club was educated by Ms. Lorna Freckleton, Executive Director, and Mr. Lamar from Rock Project South INC.. For nearly a quarter of a century, Ms. Freckleton has been guiding the children of St. Lucie County Schools in new directions. Remember the days when, if students were suspended from school, they would often be shunned from home, probably out on the streets for the day because parents still had to work and, more than likely, waste the day away? Those days are gone in St. Lucie County. Today, when a child is 'suspended', they must report to Project South INC., "Out of School Suspension Program K-12", an organization supported by the Children's Services Council of St. Lucie County, where they are mentored and respected. "Sometimes, when parents come to pick up their children, they ask, "Can I stay to finish my work?", said Lorna. Students still fully receive credit for 'attending' school, receive breakfast and lunch, and have access to computers to complete their assignments.
Project Rock South Inc. can be a truly refreshing start. For putting the children of St. Lucie County who need direction and support on the right path to success, the Fort Pierce Sunrise Kiwanis Club thanks you for what you do, and how you do it!
