Our goal is to assist every child in achieving rapid, quantified reading gains as quickly as possible, and to maintain those gains long term. Every student is assessed so that weak skills can be identified and efficiently addressed by tailoring a program specifically for the individual. Student Sophia earned "Most Improved Reading Award for the Year" at Lewis Carroll Elementary. Sophia's Mom sent this to me and it made my whole week better. Sophia has worked hard and it shows. Great job Sophia! Way to go!

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT. Update!!! About 3 years ago a very determined 19 year old came to see me. She wanted to learn to read and we got started. When my student was invited to visit family members in Africa, we had to work on words like "itinerary, taxi, flight attendant, deplane, ticket counter, train, railway, baggage claim, luggage, etc". Words that reading adults take for granted. Upon her return, we continued working while she researched and followed up on other opportunities available to her. A couple of weeks ago, Ms. Elin Shropshire EARNED HER GED! She is currently working at a local hospital, receiving on the job training and is building her future. So proud of you, Elin, and the work you are doing to accomplish your goals. It hasn't been easy but emotions or self-consciousness or fear have not stopped you. You are FEARLESS!

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT. 53 POINT GAIN! Can research-based reading tutoring benefit your child even if your child is getting help at school? Check out Madi's school reading scores below. She received special help on the computer based reading program at school for the entire first grade year. Near the end of December she began tutoring at Turning Pages. Notice a one point gain from September to December using the computer program alone. But using the computer program in conjunction with tutoring, Madi gained 53 points from Dec to May. She is now in 2nd grade, doing well, and Mom and I are celebrating her success!!

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Update!!! Posted a picture similar to this in 2019 when former student Aaron finished his 1st chapter book.

THIS WEEK his Mom called to tell me he scored ABOVE AVERAGE on his reading comprehension test for 7th grade.
