I just put up a new blog that dives into one of the most important parts of my vocal journey. Before Berklee, before the bands, before the big stages, I trained under a ninety year old Italian maestro who taught in the old world style. No diagrams. No fancy terms. Just real singing and real doing.

I’m Johnny Ray. I’ve been obsessed with the voice for most of my life. I trained for nearly a decade under Maestro Mario Laurenti, building a foundation in classical technique that still shapes how I sing today. I later earned a Professional Certificate in Voice from Berklee College of Music, but the real education came from years on stage, in studios, and in the trenches of metal and rock where technique has to survive the real world.

I’m a recording artist, a high tenor, and the lead vocalist for multiple projects including The Mourning and 3 Headed Snake. I know what it feels like to chase the perfect take, to prepare for major shows, and to fight through the storms of performance anxiety. I’ve lived the highs and lows that singers talk about behind closed doors. That experience is what grounds everything I teach.

My coaching is personal. I do not run generic lessons. I get to know your voice as if it were an instrument I’m responsible for shaping. Over time I learn your habits, your strengths, your sticking points, and the unique character of your tone. From there I tailor our work so we focus on exactly what will move you forward. Real technique. Real strength. Real clarity. Real confidence.

I’ve worked with singers from metal to pop to musical theater. Beginners who want a strong foundation. Professionals who need refinement. Streamers and content creators building a brand. Artists preparing for the studio. Singers recovering from burnout. My goal is always the same. Help you find your true voice and give you the tools to use it with freedom and power.

The EP was our first work - was supposed to just be a studio project, but boy oh boy has it grown since then! At the time I was highly inspired by prog rock bands like Porcupine Tree and Steven Wilson (Still am) and the work really shows it.
