Happy kids on a happy farm 😊

It’s very easy to get caught up in what you don’t have, especially in a small, rural town. But by golly, we sure have a lot that I wouldn’t trade for the world, starting with a little thing called community 🩷….but also strawberries! 🍓😋

Yesterday we toured Valley Flora Farm with our Driftwood elementary friends. 🍓☀️👩‍🌾

In celebration of Earth Day we planted a pollinator garden! 🪏The kiddos sowed their own seeds, have been observing and documenting their sprouts growth 🔎and now, after weeks of watching over them, we finally got to plant them! 🌸🌻🐝🦋

It has been such a pleasure to watch all the kiddos become stewards of our preschool land. We planted a native bioswale and lots of native trees and shrubs with support from Stillwater Natives Nursery that up until now have looked like dead twigs. The kids regularly check on and care for our plants and have been so excited to see them explode with new foliage. We can’t wait to keep watching them and the critters they support throughout the seasons!

Meet Brownie! Brownie was our class pony during pet/vet theme and honestly the coolest prop we’ve ever made 😅🤷‍♀️ he came fashioned with a mane to brush, a saddle, hooves to pick and polish….and of course lots of p**p to shovel! 😅🐴💩

We had quite the eventful Pet/Vet theme! We started off with a visit to a local equestrian stable to learn how to care for horses and we even got to ride a pony!🐴We ended our theme with a joint visit to Pacific High Schools horticulture program along with Driftwood’s kindergarten and life skills classes to see all of their farm animals 🐓🐐🪱. We also had visits from our amazing local vet Dr. Hattie 🩺and Barbara with Darby’s Backyard who taught us all about dog safety 🦮🐾. What a great community of animal lovers we live in!

Kindred Curry Preschool was awarded the first round of the Child Care Infrastructure Fund, a state lottery fund grant administered by Business Oregon. We are finally seeing our vision for a new preschool home come to fruition!

ATTENTION HOMESCHOOL FAMILIES!👋
The Port Orford/Langlois School District is paving the way to create a local program to support homeschool families. This program is potentially open for families outside of Port Orford/Langlois, as many families that are not accessing public education are in great need of extra support.

The program would help provide:
Free curriculum of choice
Dedicated classroom/learning space
Paid family internet
Designated program teacher to provide individualized support to parents,student tutoring and classes, and coordinate hands-on projects and field trips based on family interest.

This program would further benefit and enrich our public schools and community! In order to get this program started for this Fall, we need a minimum number of students to enroll. We are almost there and every student counts!
