I think this applies to adults and children.
This is important.❤️

Our 2022 Textile Drive is in progress! As you go through drawers and closets preparing for fall, please collect unwanted clean clothes, shoes, purses, belts or linens and bring them to the Preschool. We all benefit from this fundraiser! You get rid of clothing, sheets, blankets and towels you don't need, we earn funds to use for preschool, and your items find their way to someone who wants them or are recycled!
When we make gifts at Christmas, we remind the children they are making surprises for their family members.
A great lesson for kids to help keep them safe. Many times perpetrators will tell children they need to keep what happened (the abuse) a secret. Teach your child secrets are not allowed.

Today we talked about plant stems and leaves. After our walk and write/draw garden session, we walked over to the edge of the parking lot to observe some tree branches and leaves and to collect some leaves for our art project. In the classroom children used the flat side of unwrapped crayons to make leaf rubbings--some of the veins showed so clearly. Then they took their rubbings to the paint table and water color painted over the rubbings; the paint colors were so fun. Some students helped add (yarn or paper) stems and ink stamped leaves to our garden mural. They all enjoyed our Veggie Stix snack and some of them even tried the celery sticks and dip.
Today we continued with our Garden themed Camp with another trip to the Community Garden with our clipboards--lots of important writing/pictures occurred! Our focus today was plant roots so it was interesting to see the roots of some turnips after they were pulled by a garden helper. Back in the classroom the children painted with some root vegetables; some kids used the vegetable like a brush and stroked the paint on their paper and others stamped designs. Yesterday we started a garden mural by gluing seeds on a long paper; today they used markers to draw roots coming from the seeds. Each student also planted some flower seeds to take home and watch for roots and leaves to sprout. Our root snack was carrots with dip and Sweet Potato chips which many children were brave enough to try!
Today was the first day of Growing in the Garden Summer Camp. For the first activity each student was given a journaling paper on a clipboard and pencil. They were told they could draw a picture of anything they thought was interesting during our visit to the church garden. It was so fun to watch them walk around and draw their pictures and be excited about their discoveries! Their excitement increased when they found the goats beside the garden! The focus for today was seeds so the children also made suncatchers using glue and a variety of seeds. Our seed snack was sunflower seeds, strawberries and popcorn.
Our activities and conversations were about the moon and how craters were formed. Mrs. White let each child make craters in a flour/soil mixture by dropping a rock onto the "moon" surface. They also created moons by layering glue and paper towels. In the Big Room students could make moon rocks by wrapping tin foil around letters and adding them to our sensory table. For snack children made craters in their moons (cheese slice) and enjoyed orange slices (suns). It was another great day!
Today our Camp focus was on our planet Earth. Children used balloons to paint a picture of the Earth and added some paint specks for stars around it. They also colored, engaged in lots of building and conversation, and listened to a book about Earth. In the Big Room they investigated our "Space Station", punched star shapes to glitter and add to our galaxy, and used playdough to make an Earth sculpture. At snack time everyone used a circle cookie cutter on a piece of bread and then "painted" it with milk colored with food color to make an Earth snack!
Our first day of Blast Off Space Camp was a lot of fun! We welcomed some new faces and said hello to some familiar faces! The children enjoyed the challenge of painting disks that were suspended from a rack--they were wiggly! And now they are planets decorating our room. Some children also finger painted and made prints that we will hang in our Space Station area.
Lots of nice cardboard boxes available today! First come, first served at the Preschool now until 4:00 today.
Look at the beautiful radishes our preschoolers planted in the church garden! The Garden crew shared these with SK Helpline this week.🙂
This is a photo of some of the pumpkins our preschoolers planted in the church garden. Does it look like we will harvest pumpkins in October?
Today is a lovely day to read outside!
