SCHS Weekly Update, August 30, 2026

Hello Hawks. Hope that you are enjoying your weekend. A few reminders for the week:

- ELA PM scores from last week are available in Focus Gradebook. An achievement level score of 3 or higher is considered passing an on grade level. Look for an email from Mr. Bennett our testing coordinator regarding make-ups this week. Shout out to our 9th and 10th grade students on their excellent scores!
- e bikes and scooters make sure that you have completed the course and obtained the decal from Dr. Elliott. Only those students that have the attached decal will be allowed to park on campus.
- September attendance awareness month. Daily school attendance directly connects to academic achievement, social growth, and long-term success. Look on social media and Parent Square for great school and district prizes to be awarded for those students with excellent school attendance during the month of September. Note the loss of the Florida driver's license could be a consequence for a student that is chronically absent.
- Tomorrow's Leaders application due September 4 for Class of 2027. Look on our website sprucecreekhigh.com: //sprucecreekhigh.com for the application and details.
- SAC Meeting tomorrow afternoon in the Media Center at 5pm. All are invited to attend.
- Midterm grades will be posted on September 9. Look for your midterm report on Focus and Parent Portal by the end of next week.
- Patience and Grace to each other as we continue to manage the school routine. If your student is eligible to ride a bus, please consider that as an option to transport to and from school.

Through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, she helped foster a love of reading for generations of young learners by putting high-quality, age-appropriate books directly into the hands of millions of children throughout the world.

At Volusia County Schools, we share Dolly’s belief that literacy changes lives. Through our PreK-12 literacy initiative, we are committed to helping every student become a confident reader, writer, and communicator.

From fostering a love of books in our youngest learners to strengthening literacy skills across all grade levels, we know, just like Dolly did, that reading opens doors to opportunity.
