To the core of the actor
When the passion in you boils over;
And you think your going crazy
Out of your mind with frustration-
Sitting on the edge waiting life's next curve ball-
Focus:
In order to feel we must be alive
In order to fear loss we must cherish
That which we will lose
In order to fear being alone we must be willing to give; to love
In order to love another we must care
In order to care we must be we must be sensitive to others
In order to be sensitive to others we must be open
In order to be open we must let go of outcomes
In order to trust we must be trustworthy
In order to be trustworthy we must be steadfast and honest with ourselves and others
In order to be honest we must have a conscience
In order to have a conscience we must be open to the inner voice of right and wrong
In order to know right from wrong we must listen to our instinct
In order to fully trust our instinct we must
We must know we have profound deep inner voice that which is our instinct; trust yourself!
We must care about humanity
In order to care about humanity
We must believe it is good
In order to keep believing it is good we must dig deep into your heart and soul to see that the majority of humanity is rooted in good
In order to believe humanity is rooted in good we must believe we are good
That there is a core in humanity rooted in good
In order to believe we are innately good we must believe we came of good
In order to believe we were born of good we must believe we have a special purpose In the world
In order to know our special purpose we must contemplate what we are moved by
Contemplative reflection;
Imagination
Life experiences
Losses
Gains
Pain
Joy
Being moved by that around us
The human condition
In order to know what we are moved by we must know what moves our hearts our souls
In order to know what moves our hearts and souls we must look deep within and fear not the unknown we must take a risk of looking foolish; being wrong, being hurt,
In order to feel we must leave ourselves vulnerable
In order to be vulnerable we must be willing to lose
In order to be willing to lose we must give up control
In order to give up control we must be allow ourselves as instruments to be played by being a channel for the music the core painting of our soul by the underlying core of the dialogue
We must allow ourselves to channel the music of the score the unique interpretation of a script to flow thru our hearts
We must first allow the piece to affect us at our deepest level we must care
We must be sensitive
We must care about the writer; the intent of the script, that which the writer may not fully understand; especially if the writer has written something bigger then they can even see.
It happens to many great writers they cannot fully understand the power of that which they have written.
It is critical to listen to the music and let it move your core
Read the script without intent, and allow it to work on your instrument.
It is in you:
The trained actor. The sensitive soul that you have to become anything that you desire.
Your unique life experiences and how you view them, your openness and love of humanity your deep understanding of love, and the pain in our souls, the joy and all the beauty in between that moves you into action.
You can allow the play write to channel their music through your instrument.
You have the soul of an actor. You are an expert in interpretation of the music of the subtext; of behavior channeled thru the written word;
Especially that which lives beneath the words. You know words mean nothing if you don't bring them to life via your soul your actions your reactions, the moment to moment truth of the intent that is born in the script.
