Today AND Friday, students are encouraged to represent their House colors and show that Tiger spirit! 🐯🏠

New to Port Orange Elementary? Each shirt is labeled with the student’s House. And if you don’t see your size available, let us know! We have plenty in stock and can order your size. 🙌

Our House program is one of the fun traditions that makes POE so special! Throughout the school year, students will compete in challenges, Penny Wars, and other activities while building friendships, teamwork, and school spirit! 🏆🐯

🍧 WE NEED YOU, POE VOLUNTEERS! 🍧

Kona Cups purchases are starting THIS MONTH, and we need our amazing POE families to help make these days extra sweet! 💙🐯

We have volunteer sign-up slots available from 11:00 AM–1:00 PM, and we’d love for you to choose a time that works for you and give back to our school community! (Starting Friday Sept 18 and moving forward will be one Friday a month-dates are in signup genius)

🙌 Whether you can help for one day or multiple days, every hour makes a difference!

Did you know today is - it’s almost like we planned for a day to absorb all we have accomplished in a short amount of time. In honor of “relaxation day” - put your feet up-tune out social media - and read a book with your kiddo or watch a favorite movie. Only rule=you must relax! ☺️ thank you from us all for ALL you do! Parents, staff, and our community!

Alright… it’s FRI-YAY! 🐯💙

And you know we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to make this an AMAZING and FUN year ahead for our Tigers! 🎉 (gathering supplies, getting clothes ready, buying wish list supplies and so much more!)

But guess what?! 👀 Being a member of our PTA and part of the Port Orange Elementary community means YOU can make a difference!

🐯 MEET OUR PRINCIPAL! 🐯

We’re excited to introduce our Port Orange Elementary families to the man leading our Tiny but Mighty Tigers, Dr. Inge! ❤️💙

With decades of experience in education and a deep connection to our community, our principal brings a heart for students, families, and service to POE.

✨ A LITTLE ABOUT OUR PRINCIPAL:

📚 What inspired him to become an educator?
Years ago, while serving as president of the Kiwanis Club in Lakeland, he challenged members to volunteer in local schools. After falling in love with being in the classroom, he went back to school to become a teacher—and eventually earned his graduate degrees to become a principal.

🐯 What does he love most about Port Orange Elementary?
He actually has a special history with POE! He was here 27 years ago as an assistant principal and never forgot the incredible students, families, and staff who made this school so special. Returning this year, he says he has found that same wonderful spirit still thriving today.

🏈 Favorite sport & team?
College football! His love of the game goes back to weekends watching football with his dad. One of his favorite teams is UCF, where he earned both his master’s and doctoral degrees. 🎓🏈

✈️ A fun fact you may not know:
He served in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Royal Air Force Base in England. During that time, he was attached to the National Security Agency and later worked at NSA at Fort Meade, Maryland.

❤️ His message to our Tiger families:
“Nothing occurs that we cannot work together and fix as a team.”

As a veteran educator, dad, and grandpa, his message is simple: support one another, lift each other up, and celebrate our accomplishments. When we work together as a school community, we all become stronger.

Hello Tiger families! Friday, tomorrow, students and staff are encouraged to wear a t-shirt from their favorite vacation location. That could be a city, amusement park, national park, etc. Let's show our favorite locations tomorrow as we hold on to summer for a few more weeks. 🙂
