WEEK 1 IS HERE: Who has been looking forward to this week? Friday nights are back and this week, it's on in Port Arthur.

The NDN Press and PN-G Primetime crews will head to Memorial Stadium to bring it to you LIVE, for those who cannot make it.

Take note of the special home game nights: Band/Spirit Parent Night (Sept. 4); Homecoming (Oct. 9); and Football Parent Night (Nov. 6).

We will also post the link to all Pep Rallies here, courtesy of the Complete Athlete Live Cam when they begin at 2:30 p.m. every game day on YouTube.

Should anything change ... we will let you know.

PHOTO OF THE WEEK: Our Photos of the Week this year are powered by Droddy Roofing.

This week’s Photo of the Week was shot by NDN Press photographer Daniela Ramirez (‘28).

Daniela shot this photo during the varsity football team’s scrimmage with West Orange-Stark this past Thursday at The Rez.

Because the football team runs spring drills, it is only allowed to schedule and play one scrimmage prior to the start of the regular season. Schools who opt out of spring drills can not only have two scrimmages, but they can also begin contact practice with full pads a week earlier.

After facing LCM the last few years, this year the football team took on a West Orange-Stark squad fresh off a berth in the state finals.

The heat was hot and the pads popped as both teams traded offense and defensive series’ before all coaches cleared the field and two 12-minute, game-simulated halves were played.

As the defense worked to contain the Mustangs, Daniela captured linebacker and co-captain Brayden Moore (’27) with his eyes locked in on running back Khelvy Jefferson (’27) as he honed in for the tackle with a group of fellow defenders.

Point-after attempts were not contested and West Orange-Stark scored twice, the Indians once, though the team drove downfield and was in position to score when time expired.

West Orange-Stark will face Newton in Week 1 as the Indians travel down Twin City Highway to take on Memorial in Port Arthur, looking to make it three seasons in a row with a win in Week 1.

Way to go, Dani!! 📸💜

Congrats to the boys varsity cross country team for taking FIRST PLACE overall during the Rick Miller Relays today in Vidor. Hosted by Bridge City, the meet was the first of the season for girls and boys varsity, JV and middle school participants.

NEXT UP: The team is back in action next week in the Cardinal Classic, again at Claiborne Park in Vidor.
