WEEK 1 IS HERE: Who has been looking forward to this week? Friday nights are back and this week, it's on in Port Arthur.

The NDN Press and PN-G Primetime crews will head to Memorial Stadium to bring it to you LIVE, for those who cannot make it.

Take note of the special home game nights: Band/Spirit Parent Night (Sept. 4); Homecoming (Oct. 9); and Football Parent Night (Nov. 6).

We will also post the link to all Pep Rallies here, courtesy of the Complete Athlete Live Cam when they begin at 2:30 p.m. every game day on YouTube.

Should anything change ... we will let you know.

Congrats to the boys varsity cross country team for taking FIRST PLACE overall during the Rick Miller Relays today in Vidor. Hosted by Bridge City, the meet was the first of the season for girls and boys varsity, JV and middle school participants.

NEXT UP: The team is back in action next week in the Cardinal Classic, again at Claiborne Park in Vidor.

READY: When it comes to making your mark at PNG, there are no rules. It’s not “seniors-only,” who can do great things. It’s not even sports-only, or academics- and arts-only.

The high school now is not the same as the high school of two, three or four generations ago. There are more avenues today — more ways — to excel, to exceed expectations, to succeed and achieve.

Freshmen can do it. Sophomores and juniors can do it.

Seniors — yes, absolutely. One last go-round.

You just have to find your reason why — and then try.

When these doors open Thursday morning and these hallways fill, there’ll be 1,600+ sets of goals and dreams entering the scene … all ready to achieve desires worth waiting for and working toward.

Tonight, these halls are empty.

Tomorrow — it’s GO TIME.

OFF AND OUT OF SIGHT: PNGISD's campus policies remains in compliance with state laws passed during last year's legislative session.

The use of CELL PHONES, PERSONAL WIRELESS AND ELECTRONIC DEVICES, from first bell to dismissal, throughout the school day is PROHIBITED.

They must be left OFF and OUT OF SIGHT. This includes during instructional time as well as lunch and transition between classes — and restroom breaks.

As situations arise, such as adjustments to extracurricular schedules, weather events or unplanned emergencies, personal use will be at the discretion of coaches, sponsors and staff.

If you have questions or concerns about this policy, or anything throughout the school year, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher, or the high school office staff, administrators.
