SCASD Support Staff Job Fair!

Save the date! All members of the community are invited to attend our open job fair on June 17.

For seven elementary students in the State College Area School District, the phrase “that’s a wrap” doesn’t signal an ending, but rather a high-profile debut.

On Tuesday evening, the Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA) unveiled a public transit bus fully encased in a vibrant vinyl wrap featuring the students' original artwork. The reveal, held at State College Area High School, marked the culmination of the CATAArt Poster Contest.

As the bus pulled around the corner for the surprise entrance, the students’ faces lit up with excitement. Their creations were now in front of them — larger than life. The bus is flanked with the students’ drawings, three on each side.

Gray’s Woods Elementary fifth-grader Scarlett Bigger took a week to make her drawing that depicts a bus driving through a colorful downtown State College streetscape.

“I’m going to be really excited the first time I see it driving around, but it’s also kind of nerve-wracking at the same time,” Bigger said.

The contest challenged students in grades K-5 to submit designs centered on the theme “Connecting Our Community.”

We are so proud of our Gray’s Woods 5th grade string musicians! Many students from across our elementary schools recently participated in Moving Up Night at PFMS. Organized collaboratively by the elementary and middle school orchestra programs, this event gave students the opportunity to rehearse with 6th graders, play fun games, meet the middle school orchestra teacher, tour the music wing, and enjoy pizza, with elementary string teachers supporting throughout. This experience helps students transition to middle school orchestra and feel more confident and excited about continuing their musical journey.
