In accordance with Texas Education Code § 29.9015, Calhoun High School is offering the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test free of charge to all students in grades 10–12.

⏰ Time: 8:30 AM
📍 Location: Calhoun High School

The ASVAB is not just for students considering military service. It also provides valuable insight for postsecondary and career planning. Students gain access to an online career exploration program that helps identify strengths, interests, and potential career paths.

👉 Important: Students who plan to enlist in the military must complete the ASVAB.

✅ Registration: Students should complete the registration form in their grade-level Google Classroom
🕓 Deadline: Registration closes on September 4, 2026

Dual Credit Reminders:
VC & UTPB Classes started today. Make sure you have logged in, read through the syllabus, and completed anything your instructor has assigned to start the course.
UTPB payments/arrangements are due on Thursday, August 27th. Pay through your Falcon Portal.
VC payments/arrangements are due by NOON on Thursday, August 27th. Pay through your Pirate Portal.
OnRamps payments are due to the CHS front office, or online through the QR code on the invoice, on Monday, August 31st.
Students may be dropped from all dual credit courses if deadlines are missed and balances become overdue. Dual credit drops, at this point, will be scheduled into a comparable regular-level course.
***Students who have questions about logging in must reach out to the Tech Help Desk for their college.
***Students who have questions about their balances at VC & UTPB must reach out to the Business Office for their college.

📣 PSAT Registration Now Open!

Calhoun High School will offer the PSAT/NMSQT and PSAT 8/9 on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. Students should register now using the ​Google Form available in their ​grade-level Google Classroom. ​

The PSAT/NMSQT is available to interested sophomores and juniors. It helps students prepare for the SAT, identify academic strengths and areas for growth, and, for eligible juniors, serves as the qualifying exam for the National Merit Scholarship Program. 🎓

The PSAT 8/9 is available to interested freshmen and provides an early measure of college and career readiness while helping students become familiar with the SAT Suite of Assessments. 📚

🔬 Forensic Science in Action! 🕵️‍♀️🧪

Today, our students explored a variety of careers in forensic science and then became the experts! Each student researched a career, including what a typical day looks like, education requirements, salary, and a real crime that was solved with the help of professionals in that field.

Students then rotated around the room, teaching one another about their careers through face-to-face conversations. It was a great way to combine career exploration, research, and communication skills while learning how science helps solve crimes! 🔎💡

The Sandcrabs and Sandies competed at the Floresville Invitational 2026, the largest Invitational cross country meet in South Texas. The Varsity Girls placed 8th out of 18 teams, led by Paisley Brett in 10th and Delilah Dowell in 15th. The Varsity Boys took 14th out of 21 teams, paced by Christofer Herrera in 17th.

Calhoun County ISD asks voters to consider VATRE:

The Calhoun County ISD Board of Trustees approved an order to call for a Voter-Approved Tax Ratification Election (VATRE) to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. See full CCISD press release below ⬇️
