PORT JEFFERSON SCHOOL DISTRICT'S 6–12 ASSOCIATE PRINCIPAL WELCOMES NEW ROLE

Adam Sherrard is stepping into a new role as he enters his ninth year as an administrator in the Port Jefferson School District. Previously serving as the District’s Director of Health, Physical Education, Athletics and Nursing, Mr. Sherrard was recently named the 6–12 Associate Principal. PORT JEFFERSON SCHOOL DISTRICT SPECIAL EDUCATION OFFICE ANNOUNCES NEW LOCATION

The special education department’s office has relocated from the District administration building to Port Jefferson Middle School. The new address is 350 Old Post Road, Port Jefferson, NY 11777, and all department phone numbers will remain the same.

This new location will provide the department with increased access to students and staff in the middle and high schools. This centralized location also includes a conference room, where secondary-level meetings will take place as we collaborate on educating students. Paired with the elementary-level meetings taking place in our elementary school, these cooperative spaces and gatherings will enable us to best support our students and families. EARL L. VANDERMEULEN HIGH SCHOOL EARNS NYSPHSAA SCHOOL OF DISTINCTION AWARD

Earl L. Vandermeulen High School was recognized by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) as a School of Distinction for the 2025-2026 school year, an honor that celebrates the school’s outstanding commitment to academic excellence in athletics.

The prestigious School of Distinction Award is presented to schools that have achieved NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete Team recognition for 100 percent of their varsity athletic teams. To earn Scholar-Athlete Team status, at least 75 percent of each team’s roster must maintain a grade point average of 90 or above during their respective sports season. BOARD OF EDUCATION 7.16.2026 REMINDER

The Port Jefferson School District Board of Education Reorganization Meeting will be held tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. in the Edna Louise Spear Elementary School (LGR). A public hearing on the District's 2026-2027 Safety Plan will take place at 7:30 p.m., immediately followed by the regular business meeting.

Agenda topics for the regular business meeting include the CVA Use of Reserves, the 2026-2027 Safety Plan, and Strategic Realignment for Grades 6-12.

All meetings are livestreamed and can be accessed on the District website (www.portjeffschools.org) under the Board of Education tab by selecting "Meeting Livestream."

EARL L. VANDERMEULEN HIGH SCHOOL CELEBRATES THE CLASS OF 2026

Earl L. Vandermeulen High School proudly celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2026, marking a memorable milestone as seniors crossed the stage to receive their diplomas surrounded by family, friends, faculty, staff, and members of the Port Jefferson school community.

The commencement ceremony honored the accomplishments, resilience, and dedication of the graduating class while recognizing the lasting impact the students have made throughout their years at Earl L. Vandermeulen High School. Throughout the evening, graduates reflected on the friendships, experiences, and lessons that shaped their high school journey and prepared them for the future.
