🇺🇸Today, we celebrate the 236th United States Coast Guard, honoring one of the nation’s oldest and most versatile armed services. This past Tuesday, August 4th, gave us an opportunity to recognize the brave men and women who have dedicated their lives to safeguarding America’s maritime interests and protecting our shores since 1790.🇺🇸
👍The U.S. Coast Guard Museum(s) will mark this service birthday with FREE admission for all active-duty and reserve members, retirees, and veterans of the Coast Guard. In 1790, Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of the Treasury, founds the Revenue Marine, which later evolves into the Coast Guard.👏
🤔In 1915, The Revenue Cutter Service and U.S. Life Saving Service merge to officially form the U.S. Coast Guard. In 2003, following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the Coast Guard moves under the jurisdiction of the newly formed Department of Homeland Security. Throughout its history, the Coast Guard has played a crucial role in national security, maritime safety, and environmental protection.💪
✔️The modern Coast Guard is a multifaceted organization with diverse responsibilities such as the Maritime Law Enforcement, Combating drug smuggling, human trafficking, and terrorism. Search and Rescue, saving lives at sea under often treacherous conditions. Marine Environmental Protection, safeguarding our oceans and coastlines from pollution and environmental threats. Aids to Navigation, maintaining buoys, lighthouses, and other navigational systems and Ice Operations, breaking ice to keep waterways open for commerce and conducting polar operations.👌

The Port Huron Elks Lodge 343 held our 86th blood drive, on Monday, July 20th as we continue to help us close the gap on blood shortages!
(35) donors arrived to provide the Gift of Life. During this drive (24) whole blood pints, and (4 Power reds = 8 pints) were collected, for a total of (32) total units. We had ONE first time donor.
Working together, the Port Huron Elks Lodge 343, and the American Red Cross we have collected over 2,940 units (pints) which equals over 367 gallons of blood since our 1st drive on January 7, 2013. We are well on our way to reaching our next goal of 3,000 pints (375 gallons).
Our 87th drive is scheduled for Monday, August 17th. Please consider registering today at https://www.redcross.org.

Don’t buy anything from people advertising in the comments section of our posts. It seems some unapproved vendors hacked their way into the system.

We are also extremely grateful to Melissa and the entire bar and Oasis staff for providing exceptional service from sun up to well past sun down and taking such great care of everyone who attended.
Thank you to Sophia, Halee, and the entire events team for their hard work, attention to detail, and dedication before and throughout the weekend.
A special thank you to Mark, Jack, and the entire grounds crew for their outstanding work preparing the course and keeping it in excellent condition for the Invitational.
Thank you as well to Brandon, Maddy, and the entire golf services team for keeping everything organized, welcoming our participants, and ensuring the golf portion of the event ran smoothly.
Finally, we would like to recognize the Men’s Invitational Committee and all of the volunteers who generously gave their time and energy throughout the weekend. Your planning, support, and willingness to help wherever needed played an essential role in making this year’s Men’s Invitational such a memorable and successful event. Thank you!
