Another successful Jidokwan Taekwondo Tournament in the books!

A huge thank you to all of our volunteers, referees, judges, and dedicated students who made the day run smoothly. Your time, effort, and professionalism truly reflect the spirit of Taekwondo.

Special appreciation to our food concession team for keeping everyone fueled, and an extra thank you for the incredible authentic Mexican hospitality suite for our Black Belts—an amazing touch of community and care.

Thank you, Grand Master Chung, for your vision and leadership. Because of you, we continue to grow, connect, and pass on the tenets of Taekwondo to the next generation here in Metro Detroit.

It was an honor beyond words to witness history this past Saturday.

Our Grandmaster, Michael Vasquez, was officially presented with his 9th Dan ranking in Taekwondo by his lifelong instructor, Grandmaster Ho Yung Chung.

To see these two legends together—one presenting the highest rank imaginable to his student of over 50 years—was a powerful reminder of what martial arts is all about. Grandmaster Chung set the standard, trained with us, and watched us all advance our ranks alongside our mentor.

Grandmaster Vasquez started Taekwondo at age 7 to overcome bullying. He went on to become the first USA male to win Gold at the Kukkiwon, a 4-year US Team member, and a Hall of Famer. But on Saturday, he was once again a student, receiving his 9th Dan from his teacher.

We are so proud to call you our Grandmaster.

Although the Port Huron School District is closed, not all area schools are, and temperatures are rising, so we WILL hold classes today Tuesday January 27th.

🥋 All Students Class (Regular): 5:00–6:00 PM

This Lil Dragons class is a make-up opportunity for weather-related cancellations.
