School is out for summer. But, there is still work to be done! Sunfield is looking for an experienced person to refinish the wood floors in one of our classrooms. If that interests you, please reach out to [email protected]. Pay dependent on experience. More project-based work is available for the right person!

Summer nature camp kicked off last week at Sunfield Biodynamic Farm and Waldorf School, and this talented team is making it happen.

Jefferson Land Trust launched its first-ever camp this summer for children ages 4–11, based at Sunfield, a Land Trust-protected property in Port Hadlock. Eight weekly sessions run through the end of August, each built around a different theme: tracking wildlife, investigating watersheds, unlocking the secrets of forest layers, and more.

Behind the scenes, Education Manager Devon Buckham, camp interns Kimberly Heintz and Natalie Forcucci, and the rest of the team spent a full day together at Sunfield before camp began — getting oriented to the forest, farm, and wetland, and making sure every camper would have a positive, hands-on experience in nature.

By the end of the day, more than one staffer was wishing they could be a kid at camp again!

We had a great time making sock puppets, buttons and barn quilts with Daniel Ortega Vaughan Milholland and The Production Alliance! We are looking forward to this sweet annual tradition of filling the Party Ark with handmade gifts for the Rhody Family Reunion after the Rhody Parade on May 16th!

Huge thank you to Donica Byers from Sunfield Farm and Waldorf School and friends for creating beautiful suncatchers and lavender sachets at the Gift Making Extravaganza for The Party Ark!

The Party Ark is a community-powered celebration built around a 16’ handmade cedar boat that we’re filling with gifts, creativity, and generosity from across Jefferson County. We’ll be gathering after the Rhody Parade to share these gifts and celebrate together.

Something new is coming this summer — and we think kids are going to love it!

Jefferson Land Trust is launching its first-ever nature camp for children ages 4-11 (kindergarten through 5th grade), based at Sunfield Biodynamic Farm and Waldorf School — a Land Trust protected property — in Port Hadlock.

Eight weeklong sessions run July through August, each built around a different theme: tracking wildlife, investigating watersheds, unlocking the secrets of forest layers, and more. Every week wraps up with a hands-on project that puts what campers learned to use.

Sessions run Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, starting July 6th. Cost is $330 per week, with financial assistance available — our goal is to make sure no child misses out due to cost. Space is limited to 30 campers per week.
