The abundant coastal resources surrounding our campus are used in ocean and climate literacy and sustainability educational programs that lead to knowledge, skills and stewardship of our amazing environment. Maine-based artists, makers, and craftspeople are invited to apply to participate in the Innovation Showcase and Blue Fair at Maine Blue Economy Week on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute in Portland.

We are seeking work inspired by Maine’s coasts, oceans, marine life, maritime heritage, working waterfronts, coastal communities, and blue economy. Selected participants will have the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work during this public-facing event celebrating the connections among ocean innovation, creativity, storytelling, and Maine’s coastal future.

The fee to participate is $100. Each selected artist or maker will receive a 10-by-10-foot space, with a six-foot table and chair available upon request. Participants are responsible for any additional display materials, including table coverings, signage, racks, easels, backdrops, tents, or lighting.

Application deadline: August 28, 2026
Applicants notified: September 4, 2026
