Our faculty are making the most of summer on various research and teaching endeavors, some with beautiful views like this one! ☀️🗻
History professor, Laura Chmielewski, spent the season as a Resident Historian aboard cruises through Canada and Alaska. Along the way, she delivered lectures on the history of Canada, the Pacific Northwest, and Alaska’s indigenous peoples, led discussions on women and material culture, and guided tours of the ship’s full-scale reproductions of the Bayeux Tapestry.
From history and culture to incredible wildlife and breathtaking views, it was a summer filled with adventure and learning!

🌳 We’re thrilled to see the progress of our on-campus forest!
🌱Faculty and students in our Environmental Studies BA program are transforming 2.8 acres once overrun by invasive plants into a thriving forest with 1,800 native trees, as part of Governor Hochul’s 25 Million Trees by 2033 initiative.

Our incoming EOP students have wrapped up the 2026 EOP Summer Academy!
Students spent the past few weeks building connections, getting familiar with campus, and earning college credit through courses taught by our faculty.
A special thank you to NYS Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and NYS Senator Shelley Mayer for celebrating with us and sharing their advice and encouragement with our students!

Today, SUNY Purchase and Dutchess Community College officially signed a Guaranteed Pathway Agreement, creating a seamless transfer experience for students pursuing more than 20 academic programs.
The agreement was signed by SUNY Purchase President, Michael Steiper, Ph.D., and Dutchess Community College President, Peter Grant Jordan, Ed.D. Attendees also heard from Cedric James, a proud alum of both institutions, who shared how transferring from Dutchess to Purchase helped shape his educational journey.
Together, we are expanding opportunities and making it easier for students to continue their education and achieve their goals!
