Dear Pre-3 Community,
We are deeply saddened to share that after nearly 50 years, the college has decided to sever its relationship with Pre-3 and the Family Life Education (FLE) program.
In their statement, the college shared:
“We recognize the important role that the FLE program has played in parents’ lives and in supporting the local co-ops and regret that the college can no longer sustain the program. As a result of this decision, PC will not be offering any FLE courses in the coming academic year or in the future.”
This news is heartbreaking for all of us who know how meaningful Pre-3 has been to generations of families in our community. While we are just learning about the implications of this change, we are also determined to continue the program.
One of the hardest parts of this transition is that we do not yet know whether we will be able to retain Wendy and Carrie, our amazing Parent Educators. The conversations that come about at their table, and the relationships built among families are the cornerstone of Pre-3. While our future may be uncertain, we are hopeful that we will continue for many years to come.
In the coming months, we will likely be reaching out for additional community support as we navigate this transition and work to build a sustainable future for the program.
