This weekend!

Join the Sequim Prairie Grange for an Ice Cream Social, Fundraiser & Classic Car show on Sunday, August 30th, from 1-3pm at 290 Macleay Road, Sequim.
Proceeds will benefit local 4-H members Brody Carstensen and Alexis Gierth, both battling leukemia at Seattle Children's Hospital.
Come enjoy a sweet treat, admire classic cars and help show Brody, Alexis and their families that our community cares!

Today's 4-H shows include
9am trail classes in the horse arena
10 am costume class in the rabbit barn
10am costume class in the poultry barn
12pm large animal round robin
1pm Agility in the dog arena
2pm small animal round robin
3pm costume class in the horse arena
3pm sheep and goat costume class in the swine arena
5pm watermelon eating contest

9am Halter in the horse arena
10 am reining in the horse arena
10am obedience in the dog arena
11 am disciplined rail western, stock seat equitation, and disciplined rail English in the horse arena
12pm PNWJLA auction in the swine arena
1pm showmanship in the dog arena
1pm in hand classes in the horse arena
3pm conformation in the dog arena.

Today's the first day of the Clallam County Fair ! We have lots of 4-H shows scheduled today:

9am Showmanship in the horse arena
9am Swine show in the swine arena
9:30 Poultry show in the poultry barn - this will last a good part of the day
11am beef show in the beef arena
12:30pm horse gaming in the Rodeo arena
3pm market steers in the cattle arena, and
3pm Western dressage in the horse arena.

Open to all Poultry youth in Washington State at the WA State Fair!

We are thrilled to invite all youth ages 5-18 in Washington State to participate in the upcoming 80th Celebratory Show of Washington Junior Poultry Exposition, an APA Style Show taking place from September 23-27 at the Washington State Fair in Barn A.

This event is a fantastic opportunity for youth to showcase their hard work and connect with other poultry enthusiasts from across the region. We look forward to seeing the diversity of breeds your members have been raising.

Event Highlights & Educational Opportunities:
Premium Points: All participants will receive premium points for their entries. I have attached our comprehensive Premium Guide to this email for your reference.
APA Style Judging: We have the showmanship judge and the poultry judge secured for our show.

Judging Contest: We will be hosting a Judging Contest for ages 8-18.
Educational Posters: each participant is required to bring an educational poster to display.

Fun Contests: Beyond the show ring, we have several fun contests planned to keep the weekend high-energy and engaging for all ages.
Birdsmanship: Each participant will get to interact with the public, care for the poultry, and practice their public speaking skills in their one hour per day birdsmanship shift.

Vet Check: Please remind your members that the mandatory Vet Check will take place on the evening of September 22nd or morning of September 23rd.

We believe this show will be a wonderful environment to practice showmanship and receive professional feedback in an APA-sanctioned format.

🚨ANIMAL HEALTH ALERT🚨
USDA APHIS confirmed classical scrapie in a sheep slaughtered in a facility in Oregon.

APHIS and state animal health officials recently initiated an investigation to determine the flock of origin. The affected animal did not have an ear tag. This case is a reminder of why tagging compliance and surveillance participation are critical to safeguarding flocks nationwide.
