Meet Feiro's New Addition!

These are Red Eyed Jellyfish! There were collected right here during one of our beach seines!
These jellies rise to the surface at night. They can only detect light and dark, not shapes or colors. And the older a jellyfish gets, the more tentacles it grows!

We’re proud to partner with the Feiro Marine Life Center, located right on the Port Angeles City Pier in the heart of CrabFest. And throughout CrabFest weekend, admission to Feiro is FREE!

Stop in and get an up-close look at the incredible marine life found in the waters of the Olympic Peninsula. From tidepool creatures to hands-on learning, Feiro is a wonderful place for curious visitors of all ages—and an organization we’re proud and honored to partner with.

This morning, we got to see a pod of orcas! A calf was among them.

They came into the Port Angeles Harbor, and our staff got to see them while they were playing just off the Port Angeles City Pier!

The Olympic Coast Exploration Center has reached a new milestone in our campaign!

Last month, we secured a $1 million matching fund. Thanks to that boost, we've now raised $26 million, putting us 74% of the way to our goal!

Today is Nadia's last day at Feiro. We wanted to celebrate everything she's done here at Feiro.

Nadia has been with us since Fall of last year as a Washington Conservation Corps member.

She said that she enjoyed teaching the watershed program!

Nadia also introduced brand-new programs that didn't exist before her: crochet classes, Girl Scout summer camp, and Adult Career Night!

Thank you for everything, Nadia. You'll be deeply missed!

Meet our hooded nudibranchs!
A hooded nudibranch is a translucent, jelly like sea slug named for its large, tentacle-fringed "hood."

Most nudibranchs are picky, slow eaters. They stick to slow-moving or stationary prey hiding in deep water.

The hooded nudibranch hunts moving prey in shallow waters, using its hood to catch zooplankton, small crustaceans, and tiny fish as they drift by.

Feiro Crochet Recap!

This year we launched a brand-new program: Crochet Nights!

Each session kicked off with a short lesson on a marine creature, then the group crocheted their own version. They had helpful instructions at every table!

We were blown away by the beautiful creations at every event! We had nudibranchs, octopuses, salmon, whales, and tidepool creatures!
