Port Allegany School District We are a public school district located in Port Allegany, PA, serving just over 900 students.

The Port Allegany School District is currently comprised of two school buildings serving over 900 students in Prek-12. The Port Allegany Elementary School, constructed in 1979, houses grades k-6 and supports a full-day Kindergarten program. The building is situated in a residential area of Port Allegany on a 23-acre sloping lot. Exterior play areas are located on the west side of the school, adjac

ent to the classroom pod areas. The sloped hill behind the school provides access to an outside pavilion and trail. The building is a split-level design, with the main entrance and hallway accommodating the main office and all of the common use areas such as the library, multi-purpose room, music and art rooms. The Port Allegany Junior-Senior High School is located only several blocks away from the elementary school in the Port Allegany borough. The High School is situated at the edge of a community park and shares elements of the High School with the community. The High School was constructed in 1954 with additions in 1955 and 1962. A major building renovation and addition project was completed in 2001. The Seneca Highlands Intermediate Unit Nine Area Vocational-Technical School is also located in Port Allegany, only a short distance from the Junior-Senior High School. The primary purpose of the Intermediate Unit is to provide an organization through which school districts can work cooperatively to provide programs which they cannot afford or prefer not to provide individually. Port Allegany School District, working cooperatively with the Vo-Tech School, has the opportunity to develop a unique relationship and take advantage of these local resources. Currently the Port Allegany School District offers a number of Vocational-Technical School programs as well as an Academic Vocational diploma.

Please be advised that the front parking lot by the pool at the Port Allegany High School will be closed on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, due to scheduled blacktop resealing and maintenance work.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete these improvements. If you plan to visit the district offices, school campus, or pool area, please use alternate parking areas and allow a little extra time for access.

Congratulations to Ms. Chloe Shaw

At last night’s school board meeting, the Board of Directors unanimously voted to hire Ms. Chloe Shaw as our new 4th grade teacher! Ms. Shaw is a 2026 graduate of Pitt-Bradford and brings great passion, energy, and enthusiasm to the classroom. As a former soccer and lacrosse player, she understands the importance of teamwork, commitment, and perseverance, and we know she will bring those same qualities to our students.

At last night’s Board meeting, the Board of School Directors unanimously approved Jennifer Leete as a High School English teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Last evening, the Port Allegany Board of School Directors unanimously approved Mrs. Elizabeth Theodore as an ELA Interventionist for the 2026-2027 school year. She pairs years of teaching experience with a robust list of certifications. Her diverse skill set will be an asset to our students’ literacy journeys! Congratulations, Elizabeth!

Vive le Français!
The Port Allegany French Club enjoyed three days in Quebec and Montreal over Memorial Day weekend. Seniors from French 4 visited cathedrals, famous landmarks, and authentic restaurants, immersed in the French language. Mrs. Bishel and the students say "Merci" to all the families that supported their fundraising! It has been a marvelous experience.

The Port Allegany School District is accepting bids for the following items: (1) table saw, (1) industrial gas cooking range, (203) chairs, (10) 8ft cafeteria tables and (12) 12ft cafeteria tables. Potential bidders may contact the school at 814-642-2596 to schedule an appointment to view these items. Please mail sealed bids, clearly marked, with the specific item of interest, to the attention of Adam Moate, Business Manager, 20 Oak St, Port Allegany, PA 16743. Bids are due by 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2026. The bid opening will be at that time.
