Poquoson Education Foundation Poquoson Education Foundation works to provide funding for educational opportunities and curriculum enrichment for students and teachers in Poquoson.

The Poquoson Education Foundation was formed in 2000 in an effort to develop an effective means for individuals, businesses and community service organizations to support the Poquoson City Public Schools. Poquoson is known throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia for its outstanding educational program. Over the years our citizens have taken great pride in Poquoson schools and have offered strong s

upport for school programs. The Foundation believes that it is poised to expand and develop this partnership between the community and its schools by offering meaningful and lasting opportunities for citizen involvement. The Foundation seeks to enhance a heightened collaborative effort of individuals and businesses joined together to make our already outstanding school division better. It will be through a sustained commitment by the School Board, the Foundation, and the citizens and business community that Poquoson will continue to be a great place to live and raise children in the future.

PEF is so so so proud of our Odyssey of the Mind teams who competed at Iowa State in May!

Poquoson Middle School and Poquoson Elementary School placed #1 in the World.

Poquoson High School placed #8 in the World.

Congratulations to these amazing students, Coach Norm, head coach for the high school and middle school teams and Lindsey Watson & her husband, head coaches for the elementary school, and all those who work intensively and for many hours to showcase these teams consistently at competitions and who make our schools and community proud.

A shout-out to the volunteer Tim who drove 18 hours to Iowa State, towing equipment and supplies needed for competition this year. WOW!

This year, Poquoson High School had the honor of having five students successfully audition to participate in the Virginia Choral Directors Association All-Virginia Choir event, a highly competitive and
distinguished achievement. The five students traveled to Richmond, VA, where they stayed for three days rehearsing, learning valuable skills, and bonding with students from all around the state of Virginia who share the same passion for singing. Poquoson High School had students representing all three choirs. Pictured here are the students in their final performance at the Greater Richmond Convention Center.

PEF donated $300 to help with costs of this competition.

PHS Awards Night was a joy for the students who received scholarships, their family, their teachers and the PEF.

A loud shout of CONGRATULATIONS to all these exemplary students and to the Class of 2026!

PEF awarded almost $30,000 to 16 very deserving students.

Poquoson's Odyssey of the Mind teams have done it again!

They are heading to Iowa State in May for international competition. It takes a whole lotta $$$$$ to get them there!

PEF donated $8,100 to help pave their way straight to Iowa.

It's almost Valentine's Day and 43 teachers were "treated" to funding for their grant proposals!

Thirty -four grant proposals were submitted. Thirty-four were funded - over $16,000 that will buy books, experiences, supplies and materials, a field trip, STEAM items and more.

Grants were awarded to several school teams and several division - level teams. All educators working together to enrich the learning of their students.

Congratulations to all these creative, hardworking and dedicated teachers!!

Poquoson's Teachers of the Year were recognized and honored by the PEF during the December School Board meeting.

For each of these teachers, an honorary brick will be installed in the Legacy Walk at PHS.

A classroom grant was also awarded to these stellar teachers. Division Teacher of the Year, Randall Lawson, PMS, was granted $200.

Mrs. Alves, PPS, Mrs. Blau, PES, and Mrs. Baker, PHS, were each awarded $100.

On Halloween, bookkeepers at all four Poquoson schools and Brian Coleman, PHS secretary, were surprised with a TREAT! The Administrative Assistant at the School Board Office, Carol Carroll found a hanging red blooming cactus on her desk. No tricks allowed.

A huge shout-out to our helpful and supportive school staff members who work with PEF in various ways - from creating spreadsheets of grant proposals to maintaining good financial records of grant awards!

Kudos to our supporters of our annual fundraiser which took place on Saturday, October 25th. It takes a village to sponsor these events and be successful. Our "Village" never disappoints. They continually invest their time and efforts into their mission of supporting our students' education and future.

Abundant "THANK YOUs" go to our runners and walkers, to the Peninsula Track Club, to the volunteers, to the sponsors, to the high school and primary school, to the PHS chorus students and director, to the assistant superintendent of operations, to the bus driver and track monitors, to the police and other community members. You helped make another successful 5K Race/2-Mile Walk!
