Yesterday we celebrated our upcoming graduates, our math scholars, and next week's finals! Another 8 weeks, another credit, another step closer to a high school diploma. We ate "walking tacos" and had a wonderful time!

Our Geometry students are putting their math skills to the test by designing and constructing SPAGHETTI BRIDGES!

With a little engineering ingenuity, students are exploring the mathematics behind real-world construction.

Throughout this hands-on project, students are applying:

📐 Geometry, measurement, and the Pythagorean theorem
🔺 Triangles, trusses, and structural stability
🏗️ Engineering and construction principles
⚖️ Load distribution, strength, and efficiency
✏️ Scale drawings, blueprints, and design
🤝 Teamwork, communication, and problem-solving
⏰ Time management, planning

This week, we put their bridges to the ultimate test to see how much weight their designs can support!

Today The Excel Center is at the Iron Horse Festival, looking for some lucky ducks who want to earn their high school diplomas. We are now enrolling students 18 and older, and our students have access to free daycare!

🍬📐 Geometry has never been so sweet!

Our Poplar Bluff Excel Center students are building their way through geometry, one gumdrop and toothpick at a time! From polygons to polyhedra, they’re exploring vertices, angles, measurement, and spatial reasoning while putting their creativity and problem-solving skills to work.

Who knew a little candy could lead to some BIG mathematical thinking?
