St. Mary's had an AMAZING time at Calleva today!! Our students demonstrated tremendous amounts of team work, bravery, and support for their classmates! Each student had the opportunity to do obstacle courses, tree climbing, rope swinging, and much more! Thank you Calleva staff for making it an extremely fun and action packed day for our students!

Youth from our Creekside Community Center and Sacramento Neighborhood Center enjoyed the great outdoors this summer at a week long adventure camp at Calleva in Mclean, VA. They got to experience rock climbing, kayaking, rafting, and stand-up paddle boarding, many for the first time.
Calleva Camp was possible thanks to a partnership with Fairfax County NAACP and a grant from the Virginia Outdoors Foundation. Not only have these children have taken a love of the outdoors home with them, but they have learned what happens when you stretch yourself and undertake new challenges.
Thank you to these incredible partners, staff, and volunteers who helped make this summer incredible for local youth.

On Tuesday, September 27, the Grade 7 and 8 students spent the day at Calleva where they worked in teams with Calleva guides to strategize, collaborate, and execute various outdoor activities such as the giant swing, obstacle courses, and climbing structures. The opportunity to reflect and try again was key to the success of team-building activities. The beautiful day allowed students to enjoy some breaks and lunch outdoors. It was a great day!

Did you know there are lots of options for beginning paddlers to get out on the river? People who are just learning to kayak can find the river equivalent of a bunny slope, and experienced paddlers can shred whitewater all day long with the Calleva team.
Grade 4 students traveled to Calleva last week for an overnight trip spent connecting with one another, participating in challenge courses, and learning more about the farming and environmental programs that Calleva offers.

This past week Calleva got the pleasure of working with the Canterbury School. Normally, they drive from Florida to meet us in Georgia. This year they met us closer to our home so that we could take them to our backyard in West Virginia! We split into numerous groups and went our separate ways to go climbing, canoeing, caving, backpacking, and even whitewater paddling!!
