✨“Life is a journey with problems to solve, lessons to learn, but most of all, experiences to enjoy.” ✨

At Canterbury, we recognize the importance of experiential education - connecting students to real-world learning opportunities beyond the classroom. Thank you to Calleva and our fantastic chaperones for providing a wonderful experience for our 9th grade students.
St. Mary's had an AMAZING time at Calleva today!! Our students demonstrated tremendous amounts of team work, bravery, and support for their classmates! Each student had the opportunity to do obstacle courses, tree climbing, rope swinging, and much more! Thank you Calleva staff for making it an extremely fun and action packed day for our students!
Did you know your favorite haunt is a benefit for Calleva?

Markoff’s Haunted Forest is licensed as a benefit performance to raise funds for Calleva, a 501c3 organization dedicated to outdoor adventure and education, building young leaders through positive outdoor experiences.
Youth from our Creekside Community Center and Sacramento Neighborhood Center enjoyed the great outdoors this summer at a week long adventure camp at Calleva in Mclean, VA. They got to experience rock climbing, kayaking, rafting, and stand-up paddle boarding, many for the first time.

Calleva Camp was possible thanks to a partnership with Fairfax County NAACP and a grant from the Virginia Outdoors Foundation. Not only have these children have taken a love of the outdoors home with them, but they have learned what happens when you stretch yourself and undertake new challenges.

Thank you to these incredible partners, staff, and volunteers who helped make this summer incredible for local youth.

Read more about the camp in the story below.
On Tuesday, September 27, the Grade 7 and 8 students spent the day at Calleva where they worked in teams with Calleva guides to strategize, collaborate, and execute various outdoor activities such as the giant swing, obstacle courses, and climbing structures. The opportunity to reflect and try again was key to the success of team-building activities. The beautiful day allowed students to enjoy some breaks and lunch outdoors. It was a great day!
Thank you Calleva for your gold sponsorship and for supporting Poolesville Day!!
Hanging out at Calleva where the students learn about environmental science, have fun playing water sports, rock climb, complete obstacle and ropes courses, and do team building exercises. The group pictured will complete two sessions and we have another group going in July.
First batch of the 9R hand paddles ready for sale. Thanks to Calleva & Steven Mckone supporting and providing a spool of webbing.
Happy campers! Our eighth grade students returned this afternoon from four days of camping at Calleva! We love our Class of 2026 for their good humor, willingness to try new things, the many ways they encourage each other and so much s’more! Thank you, Calleva
Did you know there are lots of options for beginning paddlers to get out on the river? People who are just learning to kayak can find the river equivalent of a bunny slope, and experienced paddlers can shred whitewater all day long with the Calleva team.
Grade 4 students traveled to Calleva last week for an overnight trip spent connecting with one another, participating in challenge courses, and learning more about the farming and environmental programs that Calleva offers.

This past week Calleva got the pleasure of working with the Canterbury School. Normally, they drive from Florida to meet us in Georgia. This year they met us closer to our home so that we could take them to our backyard in West Virginia! We split into numerous groups and went our separate ways to go climbing, canoeing, caving, backpacking, and even whitewater paddling!!
