PMS PeerHelpers Training

Our Peer Helpers participated in training by Mrs. Ritchie and Mrs. Mathews designed to build teamwork and develop essential skills for supporting others. Students were introduced to the Peer Helpers mission, motto, and code of ethics before participating in the “Roll With It” team-building activity. During the core skills training, they learned about connecting with others, active listening, understanding emotions and practicing empathy, healthy coping strategies, and self-care. Students also practiced recognizing when someone needs additional support and how to make appropriate referrals. These activities equipped our Peer Helpers with valuable tools to communicate effectively, show compassion, and make a positive difference in our school community!

PMS Annual Family Campfire Night

We’re excited to invite you to our Annual Campfire Evening! Join us for a cozy evening of s’mores, roasted marshmallows, hot chocolate, music, relay games, and spooky stories. It’s a wonderful opportunity for teachers and parents to connect and enjoy time together.
This event is for 5th and 6th grade students and their families. Please remember
that students will not stay after school for this event. They should go home as usual and return with their families. We encourage you to bring a chair and enjoy the evening with us!
To make the evening extra sweet, we need donations of a few items.
More details are being sent home with students.

Building Connections Through Computer Science!

Ms. Swain’s Computer Science students and Mrs. Sloan’s students came together for a special inclusive learning experience using Makey Makey! Students partnered up to explore circuits, technology, and creativity while turning everyday objects into interactive controls. The activity provided opportunities for students of all abilities to learn alongside one another, work together, and build meaningful connections. Beyond learning computer science skills, students practiced patience, kindness, teamwork, and encouragement. It was a wonderful reminder that some of the most meaningful learning happens when everyone is included, valued, and given the opportunity to shine!

Sunshine, Science, and Teamwork!

Ms. Swain’s Science classes took advantage of the beautiful weather by taking their learning outside! Students enjoyed some fresh air and sunshine while working with partners to complete their science assignments. The change of scenery gave students an opportunity to collaborate, share ideas, and enjoy learning in a different environment. Sometimes a little sunshine and teamwork are the perfect ingredients for a successful day of learning!

PMS Library Displays Banned Books

Banned Books Week is October 4–10, a time to recognize the importance of the freedom to read. Books are challenged or removed from schools and libraries for many different reasons, including their topics, language, or perspectives. Books featuring diverse voices and experiences continue to be challenged across the country. Banned Books Week reminds us that reading allows us to explore new ideas, understand different perspectives, and discover stories that help us learn about the world around us.
