There are a variety of reasons why someone might find themselves in a position of needing to replace much or all of their clothing. Whether you've recently left an unsafe environment, are returning to the workforce after a time away, are pregnant, are looking to live as your authentic self, are experiencing homelessness, have had a fire, or something else entirely, it can be difficult (and expensive) to fill an empty closet.
The Salvation Army of Pontiac (112 N. Division St.) is hosting a Mental Health Fair today specifically promoting their Clothing Shop as a way to help anyone in the above situations with an accessible way to solve this problem.
Heartland Community College is proud to join IHR, United Way of Livingston County, the Livingston County Mental Health Board, and other organizations at the fair to offer additional support services. Stop by the Heartland table to learn about career training programs that can be completed in as little as 8 to 16 weeks, preparing you for a new, good-paying career. Or find out how to start working toward a college degree. Our students have access to taking classes at the supportive, convenient campus here in Pontiac, our larger campus down in Normal, and online.
We'll be at the fair from 10 am to 2 pm and will have a laptop available if you're ready to apply to start a program in the Fall. Hope to see you there!
