Knowing the statistics is only the beginning. The real work is in examining what we normalize, questioning what no longer serves us, and making sure our actions consistently reflect the values represented by the letters we proudly wear.

This week, we’re making space for real conversations around accountability, safety, respect, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood.

Today, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated honors the legacy and uplifts the men of Iota Phi Theta, as they celebrate their 63rd Anniversary.

Since its founding in 1963, the brown and gold have stood as a beacon of fortitude, purposefully built to advocate for the rights of our people and champion social and economic justice for the overlooked and underserved.

Born out of a pivotal moment in history, Iota became a movement. At Morgan State University, twelve visionary founders: Albert Hicks, Lonnie Spruill, Jr., Charles Briscoe, Frank Coakley, John Slade, Barron Willis, Webster Lewis, Charles Brown, Louis Hudnell, Charles Gregory, Elias Dorsey, Jr., and Michael Williams - united around a shared commitment to maturity, community, and civic engagement. Refusing to be mere spectators, they became architects of change.

September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month. Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder that affects red blood cells and can cause severe pain, anemia, and other serious complications. This month, let’s raise awareness, challenge misconceptions, support those living with SCD, and promote access to quality care.
