Our 1st graders brought creativity to life with their DrawDown project, designing one-of-a-kind flower vases. Each student carefully created their own animal - especially some adorable monkeys - and then brought those designs onto their vases, making every piece truly unique! 🌼🐒

It’s time to meet our awesome 8th graders who make up the St. Mary’s Class of 2026. 👨🏼‍🎓 We want to share a bit more about each of them with you as you wake up ☀️ on Monday morning.

Today, we feature Barrett. He is soft spoken while still bringing out his goofy side sometimes.

What activities did you take part in at SMS? "I am in band and played the saxophone since 4th grade. I played basketball in 4th-8th grade. I played baseball 5th-8th grade. I played golf 7th & 8th grade. I am in Scholastic Bowl, Choir, Solo & Ensemble, Student Council, W-SMS, an Altar Server and in Youth Group."

What is your fondest memory as a Saint? "My favorite field trip was when we went to Brookfield Zoo in 4th grade. It was rainy and cold but we had the place to ourselves. On the car ride there, me and my friends were counting how many trucks would honk at us."

What have you learned at St. Mary’s that you will take with you into high school? "We learned how to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Sometimes we do things that we don’t want to do but we’re taught to push ourselves anyways."

Stay safe!

Is still a thing? Because we’re taking a trip down memory lane!

One of our students’ absolute favorite days didn’t make it to the feed during Catholic Schools Week: our 5th–8th grade Volleyball Tournament followed by Prayer Partner BINGO. 🏐🎉

And guess what? After years of glory, the staff finally got served… and tasted defeat on the volleyball court for the first time in forever. 😎

Each Lenten season, our 1st graders create their own “crown of thorns” - a personal reminder to Pray, Fast, and Give. When students are caught showing kindness and living as Jesus taught, they get to remove a thorn. The goal is to remove all the thorns by the end of Lent.

2nd place Livingston County Scholastic Bowl champs! 🥈

Our bowlers spent Saturday in Odell competing against 8 schools in our county for the trophy. They went undefeated to make it to the Championship game narrowly losing to Flanagan to earn 2nd place. They played exceptional and made us proud!
