We started planning a little Back to School Bash and, well… things escalated. 😂

🤸‍♀️💥 PARKOUR. FLIPS. TRICKS. BIG AIR. BIGGER CONFIDENCE. 💥🤸‍♂️

We are FLIPPING OUT to welcome Urban Youth Park - Nocatee – Nocatee back to the VRA family as a Silver Level Business Partner! 💙💚

If you have a kid who sees a couch and thinks obstacle course… a curb and thinks balance beam… or basically ANY open space and thinks, “I wonder if I can jump over that?” 😂 — chances are, Urban Youth Park is going to feel a whole lot like home.

But what we love most about UYP goes far beyond the flips.

It’s a place where kids are encouraged to move, try, fall, get back up, try again, and discover just how capable they really are. Through parkour, Flips & Tricks, camps, Open Gym and more, their coaches are helping kids build strength and skills — but also confidence, resilience, friendships and a whole lot of courage. ✨

And can we talk about OPEN GYM FRIDAY?! 🙌

A chance to climb. Jump. Flip. Play. Burn off some serious energy. And perhaps — just perhaps — give the furniture at home a much-needed Friday night break. 😂👏

We are incredibly grateful to have Urban Youth Park - Nocatee continuing to invest in our VRA community and returning for another year as one of our valued business partners.

Starting tomorrow, every Wednesday during the school year will feature a different fun theme! 🎉

🩵💚 MSHACK SPIRIT NIGHT RECAP! 💚💙

Okay, Hawk Families… THAT was a fun night.

Hot dogs? ✔️
Grilled cheese? ✔️
Specialty burgers? ✔️
Fries & onion rings? ✔️
Some of the best milkshakes ever? BIG ✔️🙌

But as delicious as dinner was, our favorite part of Spirit Night had nothing to do with what was on the table.

It was who was sitting around it.

There were laughs. There were smiles. There were conversations with friends. There were kiddos running into classmates and even a few impromptu games breaking out along the way.

And then… our VRA cheerleaders showed up. 🥹📣

There is something incredibly special about being a K–8 school. Watching our littlest Hawks absolutely LIGHT UP when the “big kids” walk through the door — like actual celebrities have just entered the building — will never get old. 😂

And watching those big kids take the time to say hello, give a high five, pose for a picture, and make a kindergartner feel like the most important kid in the room?

That is the moment.
That’s community.
That’s connection.
That’s what makes being a Hawk so special. 🦅

A huge THANK YOU to M Shack Nocatee for hosting us and to every one of our amazing Hawk families who came out, grabbed dinner and spent the evening with us. Nights like these remind us that Spirit Nights are about so much more than fundraising — they’re about getting together with the people who make VRA feel like home.

And the fun isn’t over…

VRA Weekly news from the office courtesy of Ms. Fuller:

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and is ready for our 3rd week of school.

Last week was awesome and although our Friday ended with a rainy day dismissal, it was much better than day one. We are still ironing out the little things (like ParentSquare alerts vs posts) but we are figuring it out. Please know I use a professional lightning tracker to determine the safety of releasing our students. It shows me not only the lightning strikes and their distance but it also shows me the time since the last one. I appreciate everyone's patience and support, we had all students safely off campus by 3:48pm on Friday - that is pretty good for a stormy day.

This week we have our Back to School Bash on Friday evening - don't worry, we have a plan if it rains too! Please come out and join our amazing PTO and families for a great event! It is from 6pm-7:30pm right here at VRA.

As a reminder, only street legal golf carts (ones with a tag and registration) may come on campus. All other golf carts should be parked along Greenleaf Dr. This is a SJC school district policy.

We will be having curriculum nights for grades K-5 and a special breakfast for Pre-K parents coming up in September. Teachers will be communicating more information but here are the dates for each grade level with the time:

PK - Thursday -September 10- 9am - parent breakfast in the Annex
K- Tuesday - September 8th 6:45pm
1st - Thursday - September 10th - 6pm
2nd Tuesday - September 8th -6pm
3rd - Thursday - September 3rd -6pm
4th - Tuesday - September 1st - 6pm
5th - Tuesday - September 1st - 6:45pm

Middle School has Volleyball tryouts on Monday and Tuesday after-school. All participants must have a completed sports physical turned into Ms. Harris to participate. Our first home volleyball game will be September 22nd against Palm Valley Academy. We are looking forward to a great season. Remember students wearing Valley Ridge spirit wear get in FREE.

There is a new food policy in our District this year. We will not be allowing food for Birthday treats and all students must have a signed (digital or hard copy) form to receive any food incentive/reward or participate in any lab containing food in class. Teachers are working on these forms now, please be on the look out. If you do not want your child to have a particular treat listed you may note that or send an email to the teacher.
