By supporting our PTO, you helped to provide IXL Math, Generation Genius Science & Math, Flocabulary and BookFlix to our students and teachers.

Thank you!! 🩵

🎨 During their first CAAP lesson of the year, Mrs. Sebestyen’s class read “The Dot” and then created their own dot art with markers painted over with water. Thank you to the CAAP team in this class for a great start to the year!

⭐️ Congratulations to our Jersey Mike’s Staff Member of the Month, Ms. Conroy! Ms. Conroy was recognized by OPE’s Sunshine Committee after school staff nominated her for her kindness and willingness to go above and beyond for the good of the Otter Raft.

👏 Well deserved, Ms. Conroy! Enjoy lunch on our Partner in Education, Jersey Mike’s on A1A!

🥳 Tomorrow, students will attend the Otter Spirit Pep Rally! As we near the end of our Otter Run campaign, we will come together to celebrate the hard work our students have put in to support our school and the bond we have as the Otter Raft. Students can look forward to our Teacher Talent Show, a tasty treat to celebrate Ollie’s birthday, and other fun surprises. There will be music and and chanting and dancing and… SO MUCH NOISE 👏🤪

🍨 Every student who has raised a penny or more for the Otter Run will have their name entered into a drawing to win an ice cream sundae party for their class, with one winner per grade! The drawing takes place at the end of the day at the Pep Rally - it’s not too late to donate and get your name in there!

🦦 Students are invited to wear their class shirt, an OPE shirt, clothing in school colors (teal/aqua) or anything that makes them feel like celebrating!

🎨 Check out this opportunity to snag some beautiful keepsakes featuring your child’s artwork, delivered in time for holiday gifting!

🖼️ Art to Remember donates a portion of all purchases directly to the Art Department at Ocean Palms Elementary, to fund art supplies such as those used for each student’s clay project later this year.

📦 All items are shipped free to OPE to be sent home with your student, or can be shipped to your home instead. Watch for your child’s flyer coming home soon, or visit ArtToRemember.com and search for our school and your child.

Yesterday, Fourth Grade visited our Science Lab!

🌺 To coincide with their study in class, students learned about the anatomy and physiology of a flower - and then dissected their own! They identified each part, removed it, affixed it to their lab sheet and wrote a description of its function.

🦦 Science Lab is a volunteer-run experience for grades 2-5, staffed and funded entirely by our PTO. Thank you to our amazing team, Becca Mackenzie, Allison Aragon, Jennifer Socwell and Beau Palmer for this and so many other engaging lessons.

💙 Science lab is still looking for parents to attend their student’s hour-long lesson! NO science background or teaching needed - just serve as an extra set of helping hands and spend some time with your student. Check it out at https://opepto.membershiptoolkit.com/volunteersignup

🖼️ Last month in CAAP, Ms. Garner’s class
learned about the Renaissance art period, and Renaissance portraits. Students recreated a portrait from the time period, complete with headpiece and ornate outfit, but instead of drawing a person - their subjects were animals! 🐱

🎨 Thank you the the CAAP volunteers in Mrs. Garner’s class for this wonderful lesson!
