You want to know what 3 of the biggest things that holds high quality horse professionals back from getting paid what they’re worth…?
1) you are under priced because you set your prices based you would be willing to pay not based on what it’s worth to your client.
This is what I call “selling out of your own wallet” and it’s a huge mistake that costs many horse professionals literally MILLIONS of dollars over their career.
When you have the skill, time, knowledge, resources to solve the problem it becomes less valuable in your mind because the solution is more easily attainable to you because you have those things.
BUT- your client does NOT.
They don’t have the time, resources, skills, knowledge, etc. and that’s why they want to pay you for your ability to get the RESULT.
And your price must reflect the true value not what you’d be willing to pay for something you can easily fix on your own.
Which leads me to #2…
Your services are presented based on what you do, what you charge and how soon you have a spot available. I mean this from my heart- please stop doing this!
It commoditizes your business. What I mean by that is- it forces you to compete on price- exactly like commodities do. And the only price that ‘wins’ in the commodity game is the cheapest and that’s a losing situation for a service based business that is focused on real quality and truly serving your horses, clients and students.
No more commodity language! Get your VALUE & VALUES at the forefront. When you do this well & it’s truly in alignment with the quality you provide- people expect to pay for the quality, not for a commodity.
Speaking of alignment, that is the core of #3.
The way your business is presented & ran is not in true alignment with the quality and standards you have when you’re serving your horses, clients and students.
When a potential client goes to your website (if you even have one) it commoditizes your business and/or is just stale information that doesn’t truly communicate the real value they can receive by working with you. This means the clients you could truly help the best go else where cause they aren’t sure it’s the right fit for them, they can’t find the right information that speaks to their problems or goals and they have a hard time knowing what to do next to work with you.
This costs you time having to answer the same questions on Facebook messenger oftentimes to tire kickers, it loses you the best clients you could actually help, and leaves you feeling like no one really understands the real depth of how you can help them because the presentation and operations of your business isn’t truly in alignment.
The key to fixing this is a real branding strategy, a high quality website & having the systems to deliver a top tier client experience while staying more organized and being able to run your day to day more efficiently.
Every single week I help horse professionals who are dedicated to being the best they can be and serving others the best they can fix these exact issues in their horse business so they can focus on doing their highest quality, most fulfilling work possible while getting paid what they are worth and serving those they can help the most.
