D.C. Reeves Elementary

Day 2 of Professional Development Week was filled with learning, collaboration, and inspiration! 💚🦅

Our day began at the Back-to-School Rally, where schools from across the district came together for fellowship and an inspiring message from Ron Clark, founder of the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, GA.

Back on campus, our teachers shared key takeaways from the 2026 Teacher Leader Summit in New Orleans and the 2026 Character Strong National Conference in Tacoma, WA, bringing back fresh ideas to strengthen teaching and learning.

Mrs. Whittington also led important discussions on district policies and emergency procedures, ensuring we're prepared for a safe and successful school year.
We are building strong educators, strong classrooms, and strong futures for our Eagles.

Treat yourself while you're here! Families can purchase individual Kona Ice treats or year-long Kona Ice memberships.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to First Baptist Church of Ponchatoula for treating our faculty and staff to a delicious breakfast, and to the Ponchatoula Volunteer Fire Department for making our morning even sweeter with fresh coffee!

Your generosity, kindness, and support helped us kick off the week—and the new school year—the best way possible. We are incredibly grateful to have community partners who continually invest in our staff and students. Together, we're building something special at The D.C. Reeves Elementary School.

🦅💚 We're back, and we're building something great! 💚🦅

Our faculty and staff had an incredible first day back as we reconnected after summer break and prepared for an amazing school year ahead. We welcomed new team members, participated in cultural sensitivity training, learned from Mr. Cox's Ron Clark Academy experience, and decorated hard hats as a reminder that we're committed to starting strong, finishing strong, and building a strong foundation for every student.

The day concluded with collaborative breakout sessions focused on the LER, classroom management, implementing Wipebook resources, and writing meaningful PGPs. We are energized, prepared, and ready to make this our best year yet!

The D.C. Reeves Elementary School is off to a great start, and we can't wait to see what this school year has in store! 🦅✨
