Look who made an appearance for Constitution Day! 🇺🇸 George Washington stopped by for a visit!

The highlight of the day? Our amazing students singing a sweet song all about his incredible life. For example, leading the Constitutional Convention and building the very first presidential cabinet, to setting the two-term tradition we still honor today.

📏✨ Measurement Fun in 3rd Grade! ✨📏

Ms. Leigh & Ms. King’s class has been learning all about measurement, and today we put our skills to the test with a fun experiment called Sky Punch! ☁️🥤

Our students followed a recipe, measured their ingredients, worked together, and created a delicious treat along the way! 👩‍🔬👨‍🔬🍹

Who knew learning about measurement could be so sweet and tasty?! 😋📚

Bringing History to Life 🦅💚

During 4th grade library classes this week, Mrs. Lawson shared videos, photographs, and personal stories from her experience during Hurricane Katrina to connect with our students’ current Hurricane Unit in ELA.

Students even had the opportunity to view some of Mrs. Lawson’s family photos that were recovered from the Katrina floodwaters.

What students have been reading about in books became much more real through this powerful firsthand connection. Experiences like these help our Eagles see that history isn’t just something we read—it’s something people lived.

💚🌎 Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at The D.C. Reeves Elementary School! 🌎💚

From September 15–October 15, we are honoring the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans. Each day during our morning announcements, students will come forward to share amazing facts about influential people from different Hispanic cultures who have made an impact on our world!

We’re excited to give our Eagles an opportunity to learn, celebrate, and appreciate the cultures and people who have helped shape our communities and our world.

💜💛🏐 DCR TAKES LSU! 🏐💛💜

Our Eagles had an amazing time visiting LSU’s campus and cheering on LSU Volleyball!

It is Mrs. Whittington’s mission for every student to experience at least one college field trip during their time at DCR. 🎓🦅 If your child missed this trip, don’t worry—we have more college visits to come!

Keep encouraging your Eagle to give their best effort, make good choices, and do the right thing because it’s the right thing to do. Their turn could be NEXT! 💚✨
