☀️ Summer Hours Update ☀️

The The DC Reeves Elementary School office will operate on summer hours beginning immediately!

🦅 Monday–Thursday: 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
🦅 Friday: Closed

We hope all of our Eagle families have a safe, relaxing, and fun-filled summer! 💚🤍🖤

Research shows students can lose up to TWO months of learning over the summer if they are not actively engaged in reading and math practice. Just a little learning each day can make a BIG difference for our 3rd & 4th graders! ☀️✨

From reading books and journaling to practicing math facts and using real-life problem solving, small habits lead to BIG results. Together, we can help our students stay confident, sharp, and ready to soar into the new school year! 🦅💚

Reminder: Students will not attend Summer Learning on June 18, 2026. This is a school district holiday.

🍎✈️ Learning from the Best!

Today, Mr. Cox had the incredible opportunity to spend the day at the world-renowned Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia alongside educators from across the country. Through collaboration, innovation, and hands-on learning experiences, he gained valuable ideas and strategies to bring back to our students and staff at The DC Reeves Elementary School.

We can't wait to hear about the lessons learned and see how these inspiring practices will impact our Eagles! 💚🖤🤍

ATLANTA BOUND! I’m headed to the for a magical PD experience, and I can’t wait!

Teacher bucket list:

Summer Learning will take place from June 1, 2026-June 25, 2026. The DC Reeves will all be housed at Martha Vinyard Elementary. Students will attend Monday-Thursday from 8:00-11:30. Breakfast and lunch will be provided daily and transportation is available. Bus drivers will be reaching out this week with pick up times.

Those students who attend school on a magnet transfer will return to their zoned school for Summer Learning, unless the parent can provide transportation to their current school. Students will not attend Summer Learning on June 18, 2026. This is a school district holiday.

We look forward to providing students with extra support this summer in an effort to better prepare them for the 2026-2027 school year. As a reminder, school uniforms must be worn and students are expected to attend each day. If your child is ill or has an appointment, please remember to send in an excuse when they return 🦅💚

Our teachers were hard at work while attending the Louisiana Teacher Leader Summit, where they are collaborating with educators from across the state, exploring innovative strategies, and gathering fresh ideas to enhance teaching and learning.

We are excited to welcome them back and can't wait to hear all about the valuable insights, resources, and inspiration they will bring to The DC Reeves Elementary School as we prepare for an amazing 2026-2027 school year!
