Champ Cooper Elementary School

Kayden Jacobs, Preston Pustejovsky, Luke Cashen, and Jacob Gomez (not pictured, as he was unable to attend due to a family engagement) recently had the opportunity to perform with the Louisiana Bandmasters Association All-Star Honors Band. Held at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the event brought together exceptional middle and high school students, as well as band directors from across the state.

These students were nominated by their band director, Mr. Square, following their selection to the District All-Star Honors Band. Throughout the event, they collaborated with and learned from some of the finest conductors and clinicians in Louisiana. We are so proud of them!!

And we cannot thank Mr. Square enough for his dedication and support to his students, even in the summer!

We want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the generosity of one of our hard working Cougar family, Terri Pritchard!

Terri completely transformed the Champ Cooper concession stand, giving it a stunning new look in our proud red and black colors. What makes this makeover truly special is that Terri did this entirely on her own accord—investing her own personal time, hard work, and money to make it happen.

We are so grateful for you, Terri! Thank you for making our school and community a better, brighter (and more stylish) place! 🐾✨

While school might be out, our teachers never stop learning! Ms. Morgan is spending part of her summer at the Louisiana Teacher Academy’s workshop, hosted at the National WWII Museum.

During her time there, she had the incredible honor of meeting civil rights icons, including the descendants of Plessy and Ferguson, as well as Leona Tate—one of the four courageous African American students who integrated New Orleans public schools the exact same year as Ruby Bridges.

We are so proud of Ms. Morgan for bringing such rich, living history back to our classrooms! ❤️✨
