From camp to the community! ☀️🎶
(Part 2 of our summer camp flasback)

Our Sounds of Summer campers had the opportunity to share their music beyond the classroom, with performances at the Greenview Park and at Bristal Senior Community 🎻🎹

After a week filled with lessons, group classes, music activities, and performance preparation, it was wonderful to see our students share their music — solo and group — with others.

There were performances, smiles, applause, and plenty of encouragement along the way. Most importantly, our students experienced the joy of using their music to connect with each other and the community. 💛

A fulfilling and fun way to wrap up a week of learning, growing, and making music together!

Big shoutout to our students, faculty, staff, parents, as well as Pequannock Parks and Recreation Our Pequannock & Bristal Wayne Community for having us! Everyone contributed in making our first summer day camp a success!! ✨

As the new school year begins, we’re taking a little look back at our summer camp! ☀️🎶

Lessons. Games. Art. Music. Golf. Film Showing. Friends. And lots of fun!

Our Sounds of Summer camp was filled with all kinds of ways to learn, explore, and enjoy music together. From individual and group lessons, theory and reading classes, and performance classes to arts activities, games, golf, and watching Disney’s Fantasia, our students had a week full of new experiences.

It was a week of learning, a boost in musical growth, laughter, and memories—and a wonderful way to spend the summer together. 💛

And the music didn’t stop at camp… 🎻🎹

Stay tuned for Part 2, featuring highlights from our performances in the community!

Our second look at our Carnegie Hall concert official photos features the chamber groups and ensembles who shared the stage on June 25th.

In chamber music and ensembles, every musician mattered. Each young musician brought their own dedication, commitment, and artistry— but through listening, responding, collaboration, and trust, those individual parts became something greater together.

Two of our string orchestras even performed without a conductor — cuing and relying on each other to shape the music collectively.

The whole truly became greater than the sum of its parts. 💛

We’re finally sharing the official photos from our June 25th Carnegie Hall concert, beginning with our soloists!

Each performance represented countless hours of dedication and preparation from each student.

But these moments belonged to a much bigger community. To the parents and families who supported every step, the teachers who guided and encouraged, and the audience who filled the hall with their presence and applause — thank you. Your support was part of every performance.

Our second Carnegie Hall experience was made even more meaningful because it was something we experienced and built together. 💛

✨ What a year it has been! ✨

As another school year comes to a close, we’re grateful for the many moments that filled it with music, learning, friendship, and community.

From weekly individual lessons, group & performance classes, student and faculty performances to our Open House, Peek Inside the Violin with Paco Clar of Clar Fine Violins, masterclasses and teacher workshops with Allen Lieb, Nancy Modell, and Dr. Shu-Yi Scott, every event gave our community new opportunities to learn and grow.

We celebrated at our Winter and Spring Recitals, performed in our community at the Bristal Assisted Living and Pequannock’s Hoedown, welcomed winter (and plenty of snow!), gathered for group celebrations and our year-end party, and watched our students reach exciting milestones through book graduations and performances.

And to close the year, we shared an unforgettable evening together on the stage of Carnegie Hall—a milestone made even more meaningful by the journey that led us there.

Each lesson, rehearsal, class, performance, conversation, and shared experience has been part of something much bigger than music. Thank you to our incredible students, families, faculty, and staff for making this year so memorable.

Here’s to continuing the journey—with inspiration to keep learning, growth to keep striving, and beautiful music to keep sharing. 💛🎶

This past weekend, we had a mini recital filled with strong performances by many first-time recitalists, surrounded by many smiling faces and a room full of encouragement.

From 4-year-olds taking the stage with excitement to students in their seventies continuing to pursue their passion, every performance was a reminder that music is a journey—not a destination ✨

Thank you to every performer for sharing your hard work, your courage, and your love of music with our community. We are so grateful to celebrate these moments with you. ❤️

🎼 Spotlight on Featured Composer: Catherine McMichael 🎼

Tomorrow, our musicians will take the stage at Carnegie Hall, including performances of two works by our featured composer, Catherine McMichael.

One of the most meaningful parts of this journey has been the opportunity to connect with the creator behind the music. Through rehearsals, conversations, and shared musical exploration, our performers have gained a deeper understanding of the pieces they will bring to the stage.

For this special spotlight, we asked both Catherine and the performers to reflect on their experience working together and what makes this collaboration so unique.

Swipe through to hear from both the composer and performers as they reflect on the experience of preparing these works for the stage. ❤️

🎶 Countdown to Carnegie Hall 🎶

The magic of a performance begins long before the stage lights turn on.

It begins in rehearsals.
In listening closely.
In trying again.
In persevering.
In celebrating small victories.
In growing together.

As we count down to Carnegie Hall, we’re celebrating not just the destination, but the work, growth, and joy found along the way. ♥️

🎶 Countdown to Carnegie Hall: Ensemble Spotlight 🎶

The road to Carnegie Hall is more than hours of practice and rehearsals—it’s a journey of growth, perseverance, and making memories together.

Every musician’s path is unique, but each one is shaped by the challenges they overcome and the people who walk beside them.

Today, our ensemble musicians answer the question:

💭 “In three words, how would you describe your road to Carnegie Hall?”

Swipe through to read their reflections as we continue our countdown to Carnegie Hall. ❤️

💙 Happy Father’s Day! 💙

As we countdown to Carnegie Hall, we pause today to celebrate and honor the dads who make so much of our music journeys and all other endeavors possible.

Thank you for the countless rides to lessons, the hours spent waiting at lessons and rehearsals, the words of encouragement on tough practice days, and the unwavering support through every triumph and challenge.

To all the fathers cheering from the audience, helping behind the scenes, and believing in their children every step of the way—we are so grateful for you.

From all of us at Play It Forward, Happy Father’s Day! ❤️
