Grace Place School

Grace Place School Grace Place School offers a road to hope to youth escaping sex trafficking or who are at risk. These perpetrators are skilled and master manipulators.

There is an epidemic of American youth being lured and forced into sex trafficking and who are in dangerous situations. Shared Hope International reports that 30% of shelter youth and 70% of street youth are victims of commercial sexual exploitation. These youth run to the streets desperate to escape their situation and looking for someone who will care. Most of them, predominately girls, will be

approached by a trafficker who will attempt to lure them into a life of forced prostitution. A vulnerable youth will follow the trafficker once they have been successfully deceived to believe that this trafficker will care and provide for them and make them feel special. Many young boys have few, if any positive male role models and often witness violence in their homes or the parents are emotionally absent. They turn to gangs and the streets for a sense of belonging and acceptance and are ripe for recruitment as a victim or a perpetrator. They strive to become like the gang leaders and/or their fathers, brothers, or uncles who are doing time in prison and they learn that selling people is a very profitable business. Even if a student is doing well in school, when one is ensnared in the web of sex trafficking, typically they will show signs of the abuse and/or involvement. Their grades will drop. School seems to offer little relevance to their lives and is a place where they often meet repeated failure. They can be labeled by peers and adults as delinquents, runaways, rostitutes, and sluts.

🌟 What an incredible summer of growth! 🌟

Our Reach for the Stars Summer Job Skills Training Program has come to an end, and we couldn’t be more proud of our students! 💜

This summer, our students developed real-world skills through resume writing, mock interviews, communication, customer service, leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, guest speakers, and hands-on activities designed to challenge them and help them grow.

Our five individualized classes—Girls Basic Job Skills, Boys Basic Job Skills, Business, Styln’ With Grace T-Shirt Business, and Leadership—each had unique experiences while working toward the same goals: confidence, job readiness, teamwork, personal growth, and becoming the young men and women God created them to be.

The Leadership class took on a ropes course challenge. The Business class visited a fire station. Youth for Christ was a Tuesday staple, bringing encouragement, faith, and meaningful conversations each week. Every class had opportunities to learn, grow, and experience something new.

And the results speak for themselves! 📈 Every student completed a pre- and post-program job skills survey—and every single student improved their score. Some students improved by as much as 96%! 🎉

One student said about a guest speaker and activity, “This was the best day ever!” 💜

But the greatest growth wasn’t just in job skills. We watched our students gain confidence, grow closer as a team, face challenges, and grow closer to Christ. Every student had positive experiences and took important steps forward.

Five classes. Different journeys. One shared goal: A Road To Hope. 💜✨

Safety takes the field! ⚽

As World Cup matches continue, the Broward Sheriff’s Office Division of Homeland Security and Cyber Crime, South Florida ICAC Task Force and other federal, state and local law enforcement partners intensified human trafficking enforcement efforts through Operation Red Card.

The operation led to the arrest of seven individuals seeking to exploit minors for commercial s*x acts and helped rescue 10 victims, connecting them with critical support resources and care.

If you suspect human trafficking, contact the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 888-373-7888, text “BeFree” to 233733 or call BSO’s non-emergency number at 954-764-4357. In an emergency, dial or text 911.
