Last week, our very own Bailey Cameron traveled to Washington, D.C. to attend the National FFA Washington Leadership Conference (WLC). Every year we select those FFA Members who apply to be an East Central District Officer to go.

Throughout the conference, Bailey had the chance to connect with more than 70+ FFA members from across Kansas and over 300+ members from across the nation, representing states from California to Oklahoma from Idaho to Florida.

Day 1

We arrived in Washington, D.C., and began our experience by visiting the Washington Monument and seeing the White House.

Day 2

The day was filled with leadership workshops focused on personal growth and servant leadership. That evening, we toured several historic landmarks, including the Washington Monument, Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, and Thomas Jefferson Memorial. We concluded the evening at the Marine Corps War Memorial, reflecting on the sacrifice, service, and dedication that great leaders embody.

Day 3

We spent the day on Capitol Hill, where Mr. Powelson arranged a private tour of the U.S. Capitol through Senator Jerry Moranโ€™s Office. During the tour, we visited the Rotunda, Crypt, and even had the opportunity to sit in the Senate Gallery while the Senate was in session and voting.

Day 4

Our final day included a visit to Arlington National Cemetery, where we witnessed the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and reflected on the sacrifice and honor of those who have served our nation. We also toured the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and spent time exploring exhibits at the American Smithsonian Institution. WHERE WE SAW THE FFA JACKET ON DISPLAY!!!

The Washington Leadership Conference was an unforgettable experience that strengthened leadership skills, broadened perspectives, and inspired a greater commitment to serving others. We are proud to have Bailey represent our chapter and bring these experiences back to share with our members!
