Future healthcare professionals got a hands-on introduction to a fundamental clinical skill during yesterday's Partnership for Success summer program.
Led by WesternU College of Podiatric Medicine alumna Dr. Wathmi Wijesinghe (DPM 2022), students learned the basics of hand-tying techniques while gaining insight into the precision, focus, and dedication that are part of becoming a podiatric physician.
Thank you to the Partnership for Success program for spending the day with usโwe hope this experience inspired the next generation of healthcare professionals! ๐ฃโจ

Service, compassion, and hands-on learning came together during the Southern California Special Olympics Healthy Athletes event at Cal State Long Beach. ๐๐ฃ
On the weekend of June 6 & 7, WesternU College of Podiatric Medicine students worked alongside dedicated faculty, alumni, and volunteer podiatric physicians to provide foot and ankle evaluations for more than 200 athletes. It was an incredible opportunity to develop clinical skills while making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
A special thank you to our alumni and faculty volunteers Chandler Horstmeyer, DPM 2018, Wathmi Wijesinghe, DPM 2023, and Reina Deogracias, DPM 2013, as well as our guest volunteers Dr. Jennifer Chen, Dr. Mary Schuh-Clark, Dr. Monte Schmalhaus, and Dr. Sam Meyers, for sharing their expertise and mentoring the next generation of podiatric physicians.
Experiences like these remind us that some of the most valuable lessons happen beyond the classroomโwhere clinical knowledge, teamwork, and compassionate care come together in service to the community.

Every great clinician starts with the fundamentals. ๐ฃ
Today, the DPM AS Class of 2028 participated in their first hands-on workshop, where they learned the basics of patient evaluation through biomechanics alongside Dr. Kazuto Augustus. From observation to movement assessment, these foundational skills are an important first step in developing clinical confidence and preparing for patient care.

A WesternU CPM reunion in the hills of West Virginia! ๐ฃ๐
This past weekend, alumni from the Classes of 2014 and 2020 crossed paths at the WVPMA CME Conference held at the beautiful Greenbrier Resort. Toni Lam, DPM 2014, joined the event as a guest speaker at the invitation of fellow alumna Kathryn Bosia, DPM 2014, while Samantha Zdanowicz, DPM 2020, was also in attendance.
Moments like these are a reminder of the lasting connections built at CPM and the incredible impact our alumni continue to make through leadership, education, and service. We're proud to see our graduates supporting one another and helping advance Podiatric Medicine every day. ๐
