We’re excited to announce applications are available for California’s new statewide service and career readiness program – College Corps. This is a fantastic way to Learn by Doing Good! Our College Corps application is now open and we’re looking for a total of 50 students to join this statewide service effort. The application deadline has been extended to June 30, 2022, by 5 pm.

College Corps student fellows will gain hands-on work experience while exploring future career paths and building valuable skills. Fellows will be matched with local community organizations focusing on food insecurity, climate action, and K-12 education. Students accepted into the 2022-2023 College Corps Fellows will earn $7,000 (pre-tax) through a living allowance during their service and an education award of $3,000 upon completion of the 450 service hours.

California Volunteers

Join us for a free two-day virtual institute April 29 and May 13 where participants work together to translate their research, products, start-ups, technology, or ideas into the marketplace. Plus, learn how to qualify to apply to the NSF National Innovation Network Team Program with up to $50,000 in funding.

Teams may be composed of CPP students, faculty, staff, alumni, and/or community entrepreneurs. The deadline to apply is Sunday, April 17.

Join the CCE for our spring Bronco Stampede of Service in honor of César Chávez Day on Thur, March 31.

Learn by doing good and help us serve our community by volunteering at Lopez Urban Farm in Pomona.

The service project is from 9 AM - 1 PM. Check-in at 8:30 AM. Transportation is NOT included, so please meet us at the service project site. Lunch and volunteer shirt will be provided.

How do we change the world? One act of kindness at a time,” said Morgan Freeman. As we celebrate Random Acts of Kindness today, Feb. 17, we wanted to thank our fellow Broncos who are change-makers, one act of kindness at a time.

More than 57 Broncos registered for the 2-day volunteer service projects this week. Each took the time to decorate and wrote encouraging words on more than 89 canvas bags.

After the service project, the bags were donated to the Children's Foundation of America for their Warm & Fuzzy February campaign. The decorated bags will be packed with blankets, baby items, books, clothes, and stuffed animals and will then be distributed to foster youth and children in the City of Pomona.

We hope that the kindness of our fellow Broncos brings a smile to uplift the spirits of our youth and future CPP students at the Children’s Foundation of America.

Cal Poly Pomona (CPP)’s Center for Community Engagement, Co-Op Education Program has collaborated with the Metropolitan Water District (MWD) of Southern California, Los Angeles to offer several engineering positions for sophomore, junior, and 1st quarter/semester senior engineering students! The MWD Engineering Co-Op Internship is a paid internship from July 1, 2022-March 30, 2023. Application is open now!

The Co-Op Education Program is a long-term internship/educational experience designed for students enrolled at an accredited university seeking practical work experience related to their majors while pursuing a degree.

Co-op promotes professional development and gives students a chance to apply what they learn in class. Co-Op students graduate with substantial, career-related work experience on their resumes, and every year several students receive employment offers from their Co-Op employers as they approach graduation.

Cal Poly Pomona students will be able to play a larger role in tackling key issues in L.A. County such as food insecurity, education equity and climate change.

The university has joined Cal State LA, Rio Hondo Community College and East LA Community College to form a regional consortium as part of the new statewide program "California for All College Corps."

Each student enrolled must complete 450 service hours per year and will receive $10,000 for participating.

The initiative has three goals:

1) Engaging college students in meaningful service opportunities to build leadership skills and civic responsibility
2) Helping students from diverse backgrounds graduate college on time with less debt
3) Supporting the work of community-based organizations focused on local priorities

Let’s , CPP! Who’s ready?

We spot a sweater on CPP Bronco alum, Ashish Hingle!

KHC alum, Ashish Hingle, is rocking his CPP sweater at George Mason University.

He is currently working on his Ph.D. in Information Technology (IT) and is part of the Engineering Education & Cyberlearning Lab (EECL) Lab with research focusing on technology in formal and informal learning & productivity spaces. The grant he is currently working on focuses on teaching ethics in STEM education to students that will likely have to use algorithms and technology to make decisions in their everyday work after graduation (along with all the implications that come with that).

He transitioned from the CPP MSBA program (business-focused, 2020) after completing his undergrad at CPP in Computer Information Systems (also business-focused, 2017) to an engineering/computing-focused program at George Mason University.

He says it has been a significant/uncomfortable change (constant imposter syndrome working with amazing people), but a great learning experience!

Great job Ashish! Keep up the awesome work on your doctorate. We are all rooting for you!
