WesternU Summer Health Preparation Education Course (SHPEP) held its completion ceremony Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019 at Pitzer College in Claremont. Eighty rising sophomores and juniors completed the six-week program that encourages students from financially disadvantaged families and groups underrepresented in medicine to enter health professions. Congratulations to all! 👏👏👏👏

WesternU SHPEP students participate in the nursing rotation. Lessons and hands-on activities included the birthing simulation, prostate, cervix and breast health and pediatrics auscultation.
WesternU SHPEP students also participated in the physical therapy rotation taught by Gunnar Fillerup, instructor and assistant director for clinical education for the Department of Physical Therapy Education. Hands-on activities included the three-minute step test and the treadmill test.
